So, I wrote about this the other day a month ago, but I have a professor who has MAJOR bling. I mean, MAJOR round brilliant in an eternity style prong-set setting and match w-band. I talk to her about it EVERY class, she just has amazing jewelry (from her tennis style watch, her antique RHR, etc)...

Do any of you work or go to school with people whose bling is so nice that it is hard to concentrate?

The opposite! I have a small Ph.D. seminar class where the Prof has a honkin but DEAD diamond on her finger. Since there are only 7 of us around a conference table, I think I spend all class trying to scheme how I can get a closer look to see if it is just a bad diamond or if it is a CZ. It completely amuses me.

Actually, I do have a coworker w/an amazing sparkle crazy diamond. It is probably 1/2 or 3/4 carat but it sparkles like you wouldn''t believe! I love it and I always catch myself watching it!!!!

Too funny you should mention it- I was in a meeting today with someone who had a really nice RB for her ering with a nice wedding band and I kept trying to get a look at it! I should have just asked it see it- I bet she would have loved showing it off. It was around 1.25 carats and just looked like a beautiful cut, bery sparkly under the office lights.

I had a prof who had a two carat diamond and I noticed she NEVER cleaned it and it drove me nuts. I couldn''t stop looking at it because it was so dirty. I wanted to take her hand and dunk it in some cleaner!

Today though, one of my supervisors friends came in and I noticed that she has an OEC... I definitely asked to see it. Needed to be cleaned also, but was very pretty... about a carat and a half or so.

AND my supervisor has a custom made ruby and diamond wedding ring that is very contemporary looking. Just very unique. I constantly stare at it when she talks!

My problem is at my kids'' sporting events. Some of the moms have some serious blingage going on. And under the gym lights......... There''s one mom on my son''s baseball team that has a good sized rb with bags. That thing is SOOOOOO filthy, sickeningly, dirty. I really need to get some of that travel gel cleaner and take her to the bathroom!!!! Would she think I was crazy????

With all my large diamond lust, the thing that makes me sooo mad is a large dirty diamond on someone else''s hand! If I had that big rock, I''d be constantly keeping it clean. My bff from college has a huge 2 carat marquise, and she never cleans it. It disgusts me. It looks so fake and dead when its dirty.

Since we''ve been friends forever, I grab her hand whenever she''s in town & stick that sucker in my US. oh, the grime.

I just feel like saying "if you are going to have a nice large diamond, for God''s sake, KEEP IT CLEAN!".

My dad bought my stepmom a 1ct RB for her w-ring, and I think she''s cleaned it 10 times in 10 years. but to my dad''s credit, its a great stone and still sparkles like crazy even when dirty. I made her get the gel cleaner y''day. That ring is too gorgeous to not keep clean.

:-)

LOL, I agree wholeheartedly that if you''re going to wear that kind of bling, you should keep it clean! It''s like having a beautiful expensive car and never washing it!!!

Last week some people from my company''s credit/collections department came in to meet with those of us who do billing, and the lady who headed the meeting was wearing this amazing set of rings on her left ring finger...no center stone, but she had what looked to be an eternity band of substantial emerald cuts, then on top of that a plain WG or plat band, then on top of that a half eternity band of smaller diamonds and I couldn''t get a good enough look to see what shapes they were...unfortunately on her RH ring finger was a disaster of a cocktail ring with baguettes, channel set rounds, and marquise''s in YG...it was not meshing with her LH bling at ALL. But that EC eternity band was smokin''.

My MIL has this RB set in a wide YG band for her wedding/e-ring...I don''t know the story on it but I really need to ask her because it''s killing me. The diamond has always looked cloudy to me, even from a few feet away, and once I brought my US over to her house and cleaned her ring for her, which she said hadn''t been cleaned in ages, of course. I still didn''t have a chance to get a really good look at it, but even after cleaning it still looked cloud...it''s definitely over a carat but soooo not sparkly. I kind of hate to ask her anything about it because I have a feeling she doesn''t have any idea of its stats whatsoever, probably just the carat weight. Oh well. She loves shoes more than diamonds, so obviouslly her priorities are different from mine and she can be forgiven, lol.

I find myself staring (quite openly, it''s almost embarrassing) at my coworkers'' engagement rings at times. It''s not because the rings are full of major bling or anything. Ever since I started looking at e-rings for myself, I began examining others'' rings to see what type of prongs they have, what shape the ring is, whether or not the rings have pave, did they go with white gold or platinum, etc.. It''s hard to get a good look at the prong heads when you''re in the middle of a conversation with someone. It looks kind of awkward. I''m just waiting to be called on it someday!

Zoe -- I do the same exact thing!!! I started looking at rings a few months ago and I work with mostly women, so often find my eyes wondering to their rings and admiring/looking at the details... I wonder too if it is as obvious as it seems to me. I bet if they noticed, if anything they would be flattered!

I have a co worker with a super nice maybe 1.3ct cushion diamond set on micropave basket with micropave band. so delicate & gorgeous! I always find myself starring at it, esp when she''s talking w/ her hands! It seems every couple of weeks someone at work gets engaged! I will never get sick of seeing everyone''s engagement bling.

Also very possible. Maybe I should stick a tube of gel cleaner in her mailbox with my next paper...

there are days I am more blinged out than others, and I notice people staring.

Funny story, I was having lunch with one of my best friends, and two other women I know well. I got up to go say hi to a friend at a neighboring table, and while I was gone, my pal says that the other two were whispering to each other, "Did you see how big her ring is?!"...and my friend was laughing, like, "Guys, I am right here and I can hear you!!!" She thought it was very funny!
