I have! For about one minute. No pics as I wasn’t allowed because of insurance reasons and to protect the design for the owner. Was already sold.
It is a Golconda, 5ct, D/Fl. Very spready, about an 18mm by 12 mm (wild guess) rectangle. Not a particular style of cut. Appeared as if they dug it from the ground and made it symmetrical. Sort of a mirror cut with faceted edges as best I recall.
It is set east/west in their own mix of yellow and rose gold. Prong set with a heavy, but not particularly wide, band. The band is engraved with square bezel set stones all around. They are good sized, not French cut, but I think the similar style carrion (sp?). Didn’t get to ask all my questions as more customers came in at that time.
Didn’t think about it at the time, but friends and family were surprised that the jeweler took it out of the vault to show me, much less let me try it on.
Other than the spectacular Golconda, I liked a marquise (1.60+ ct) set east/west with those same type square bezel set diamonds on each side. Six side stones in all, set like baseball diamonds. Couldn’t detect a bowtie, so pretty. I was tempted as it was only 14k. Ha. No pic of that either as it was also custom.
We were in Abercrombie in Austin. They specialize in very old pieces, only carrying the most special Art Deco pieces. Great place to find something unique, and they do exquisite custom work.
