Hi everyone! I am new to this forum. I am actually from Australia! I gave been married for 5 months now and have been with my husband for 8 years. I have a solitaire engagement ring and bead set wedder. I also was hoping to get an eternity ring for our 1 year anniversary and last night my husband said he would get it as my Christmas present so that I don''t have to wait! What do u girls think? For Christmas or 1 year? I am happy to wait but keen to hear your thoughts!

I''m not a very patient person so for me I would have him buy it for whatever comes FIRST!!! I think solitares are fabulous because you can really mix it up with your bands. Are you just doing a diamond eternity ring or diamond/gemstones eternity ring?

Make sure you post pictures!

Lol I am impatient too :) I will have diamonds only. Will post pics of my set and the eternity ring that I have in mind. Do you wear all 3 together or does it replace the wedding band? If I wear all 3 it might not match?

Hey Mrs. K--
Congrats, what a wonderful dilemna. LOL!
I know plenty of people who actually wear there anniversary/eternity bands on their right hand.
Keep that in mind as another option.

Dear mrs k,
I am also thinking about getting an eternity. Like you, I want to have it immediately. Yet, I know I have to be patient, because I need to do a lot of research and have discussions with vendors to find out what is available and what suits me best. There are many considerings. To name a few.
1. Do I want a full or 3/4 eternity band?
2. How big should the diamond melees be? Must pay attention to proportion with respect to the other rings that I plan to pair with.
3. What type of setting? U-prong, bead set, 4-prong, pave, chanel, and etc? Platinum, white gold, or yellow gold? Dimensions of the setting? Width (2mm or 2.3mm or 2.5 mm, for proportion consideration with respect to my other rings) and height (don''t want diamonds damaging other diamonds and prongs of adjacent rings)?
4. Price? The spec of melees and quality of setting including (ready made or more expensive custom made) affect the price.
5. ??? Other considerations

As you see, there are many questions that need my answers. As I do not buy eternity band everyday, and I do not want to be stuck with a mistake, I need time to explore and investigate. Therefore, I do not expect to have the eternity until early next year (unless my jeweler surprises me with something great soon).

Love to hear about your thoughts and experience.

Hi FancyDiamond!
Well, currently I have a solitaire diamond with a bead set wedder. I am contemplating a sing pave band or shared prong setting but not sure if they will match my wedding set?
And my e-ring is 2.8mm, wedder is 3m so i would want my eternity to be 3mm too.. what size diamonds would you suggest for that width?

Might help if I post a pic of my set :)
Any suggestions on what would match?
Should i go the same as my wedder or something different? Also I would go half or 3/4 diamonds

Dear mrs k,
You have a very lovely set. If you add anything to the set, the extra band will detract the beauty of your rings and the entire ensemble will look very crowded (just a blurry blink). Therefore, I suggest that you wear your eternity as a RHR (right hand ring). This way, there will be no restrictions n the style and/or size of the melees. In addition, you can add more bands to stack with your RHR in the future to create different looks.

If you are a greedy person like me who wants big diamonds, you may want to consider a 5-stone band instead of eternity. For both reasons of cost and comfort, I perfer 5-stone rings over eternity bands. Of course, you can get both, one for now, and the other for yor nth anniversary in the future.

For the type of stone setting, I would stay away from pave (unless you get it done by Leon Mege, but $$$ though) and I like the kind that would give the most exposure of diamonds. Therefore, I suggest the U-prong type (similar to "Nightingale" in attached photo). I am having mine custom made at this moment. My meless total 2.0 ctw (about 40 points each), although most ladies prefer 1.5ctw to 1.75 ctw (about 30-35 points each). After I get the ring, I shall let you know how I like it in terms of appearance, comfort, and safety (from wear and damage). I purposely size my 5-stone band big enough that it can fit both my right and left hand fingers.

If you still perfer an eternity ring for now, I suggest that you get a similar U-prong style about 2 ctw (10-point melees). I know quite a few PS ladies have them and claim that these the ring is comfortable. Will provide a photo in next post.

There is a lot of debate over full vs, 3/4 eternity. For myself, I would get a full one, because I do not want to worry about spinning. Since I am done having children, my ring size will not change significantly. To compensate for varying ring size over the year (swelling from hot summers and shrinking from cold winters), and to ensure extra comfort, I would go with a slightly larger size ring. For example, my ring size is 5 3/4. I would get a size 6. Some PS ladies get a 1/2 size larger for their eternity.

Photos of stacked ring look that I like.

Another stacked ring look that I like.

As you see, there are many opportunites if you make your eternity or 5-stone ring your RHR (or LHR without your e-ring).

Aw thx D&T! Hubby picked it out all himself! Sourced the diamond from canada and had it set at a local jeweller. But if I get it for Christmas is that ruining the tradition of it being an anniversarry ring?

Fancydiamond those rings r stunning! I know what u mean about raking away from the solitaire. I might go out and try different rings to see what suits! I am from Australia and don''t see many five stone rings around. I want to wear it on the same hand that''s the thing hmm will keep hunting and update u

not at all as I have had a five year upgrade that came on christmas that ended up being reset a few different times all within the same year that we considered it, anniversary, christmas, birthday present all in one
