Hi PS friends,
I need your help!

I am looking to purchase a full eternity band (anniversary present), to wear as a stand alone band (on days I don’t wear my diamond solitaire.) I would like 15pt or 20 pt melee, in a setting that is the lowest profile possible. This would be in WG, and my ring size is 4.5. I have reached out to IDJ (“PS quality” diamonds) and WF (ACA melee) for quotes. Both quotes are for F/G, VS clarity stones.

My questions:
  1. For those who have seen both IDJ and WF eternities (and even those who have not), is there a noticeable difference and is it worth the price premium?
  2. What setting is the lowest profile? Is it shared prong or U-prong? The rep admits that U prong is more “delicate/less metal”; is there greater potential to lose a diamond with Uprong settings?
  3. 15pt or 20pt- is there a significant comfort difference? For those who have 15pt, do you ever wish you went bigger? And vice versa- for those who got 20pt, do you ever wish you had gone smaller due to comfort?
  4. Any other concerns/issues to consider?
The PS brain trust is amazing—thank you in advance for any help you can offer!:wavey:

I can't answer all your Qs because I only have an IDJ eternity band w/ much smaller diamonds. But, here's my experience:

Their prices are great. Their quality is great. The u-prong sits very low, but then again my diamonds are only 1.5ctw. I'm really happy with mine!img_4104_1.jpgimg_4103.jpgimg_4105.jpgimg_4106.jpgimg_4107.jpg

(sorry about the not-so-great pic quality- I swear they sparkle!)

Shared prong and u prong can both be made to sit low tonyour finger. 15-20pt stones should not present a comfort risk (my WR is 1/2-3/4 Eternity comprised of 20pt rounds, and baguettes, set in a bar set Band, and I barely notice it).
I tried on 1/2 eternities with 25-33pt stones for size & comfort, and they felt fine. I am in the process of creating my own 3/4 Eternity with Asschers.
What size ring do you wear?

@HappyNewLife - your band is beautiful! I really like the uprong setting and am leaning towards it. Do you feel that it is too delicate or have to baby it? What size are your diamonds if I may ask? It has great presence on your hand !

Thank you @Matthews1127 - my ring size is 4.5. I have tried up to 30pt in the store but the samples are too big and it's only for a few minutes so I'm worried that it's not a good representation of reality. However, I'm glad to hear your experience has been positive!
An eternity with Asschers sounds gorgeous! What size (mm) will you be getting?

The Asschers will be between 3.0-3.75mm square.
I wear a size 6 ring for comfort (my finger is 5.5-5.75). The 33pointers are as large as I want to go due to stacking. I'm getting 7 of them, and they will cover 3/4 of my finger, without a doubt. The rest will be hand forged engraving to match my wedding set.
I imagine your stones at 20points will be perfect for your finger size!!
U prongs will open the ring to so much more light! That baby will pop with sparkle!!!
I don't know about shared prong vs u prong as far as delicacy/durability. I haven't heard anyone complain of issues, but I'm certain someone who has each can share pros & cons of each. I am going for u prongs. ;)2

that is a good Q. *crosses eyes and tries to count them*

21 diamonds, 1.5 ct (and change, I can't recall exactly) -I 'd guess 7.5 (is that a thing?) pointers. My ring is platinum, so it's definitely a weighty ring. It's NOT heavy though. I love platinum and all my rings are heavy. It's a bit heavier than my other rings, but not much. It's not delicate at all. Granted, I don't wear it daily - I've found it annoys me to have an eternity ring on all the time with the amount of hand-washing I do in a day. Hope that helps. Let me know if you want better photos!

oh and my ring is a size 4.75 I believe

I have the WF uprong with .10 stones and it’s super comfy.
