Hey folks. I''m new here and new to diamonds. I have been doing lots of research though. I''m looking for a "square" diamond. I had been considering a radiant cut, but I recently discovered the Jubilee diamond. Are they still making this diamond? Or has it fallen out?

While searching for this diamond, I found the square H&A at GOG. Is this the same diamond, or are there differences? Is there anything else I should know about these diamonds?

TIA

Braden

if you want a truly square diamond, get a princess or a square emerald (asscher). the cut cornered square diamonds end up looking more like rounds once they are set unless you find a setting with exaggerated squareness in the corners. if it''s going to look like a round anyway, you may as well take the price cut, the bigger face up size and the performance that you can only get from a round!

I agree with belle that the Jubilees and square H&As tend to look round when set. So do some cushions. However, I think radiants still look plenty square when set!

belle''s right that a round will face up larger for sure! So if you like the look of a round diamond, it might be best to stick with a round. But if your heart''s set on square, I would definitely go with a princess, radiant or asscher.

The square H&A is a diamond with a squarish (bit not square) appearance, yet sparkles like a round (lots of medium sized flash). The Jubilee is almost the same thing but it has more corners. The Jubilee is no longer being cut because the original designer is still looking for a new cutter to cut more. They''ve halted production for nearly 3 years now, whereas the square H&A is still being produced.

Although the Princess cut and other square emeralds are square in shape, their sparkle is very different. The princess has small pinfire sparkle, the square emerald throws off large coloured light (but less often), with the square H&A being the middle ground. Which type does she like?
