Hi all,

I am completely new to Pricescope and was wondering if you could me out. I have a budget of $1000 and have talked to my girlfriend about what she would like.

Ideally, I am looking for something that is 18 K gold, with a round diamond (about the size of 0.35 or higher). She would like side stones and preferably a thin band. Do you suggest pave (she is active so I worry about stones coming out) or side stones? I would really like to stay in my budget but still want good quality. Any suggestions? I was thinking of going up to H for diamond color and VS2 for clarity and cut to be Excellent preferably but I know I may have to sacrifice.

I do like this:

The only thing though, is that I prefer to have the ring setting not to go high where the diamond is. The simpler the better.

Any thoughts or opinions? This seems to be the only one that fits into my budget....should I make adjustments to the diamond? I just want the diamond to really sparkle....I looked at Szul too and found this:

http://www.szul.com/byorpreview.aspx?id=402181&idd=5191130&type=Ring&s=5.5&st=4-Prong

I dont know if Szul is reliable though as I read some iffy stuff on the internet....

Any suggestions? I prefer the ring band to sit low though and to be thin as I feel it looks more modern.

Advice would be greatly appreciated!

definitely not pave if she is active.

I have never heard of Szul so I cannot offer any advice there. But, I would look for an eye-clean SI diamond and drop the color to an I or a J.

Good Luck

okay, if not pave, then anyone know any good thin channel settings? do you think if i find a cheaper diamond on jamesallen, that bluenile will match it? also, what is the clearest and cheaping diamond with lots of sparkle?

are you looking to spend $1,000 on the total ring including the center diamond or just on the mount itself?

This diamond looks promising:

.34 ct J, VS2 AGS Ideal

Channel Set Ring, WG

= $1036

yes...unfortunately i am looking to spend a total of $1000 on the setting plus diamond. I was hoping that I could find really pretty to the eye diamonds, but around 0.35. how low would you go for the grade?

thanks Ebree - i have been eyeing that setting....

what do we think of J color diamonds?

J colour can be a fine choice ( reliably graded such as GIA or AGS), if you aren't sure visit Jareds if there is one closeby and check out their AGS0 Peerless in the size you want and I or J colour, see what you think. It is best to see these grades in person if possible. When you say your GF is active concerning pave, I have worn pave for years without a problem and I am a very active person so if you are reasonably careful pave can fit into a busy lifestyle with success.
