I am a diamond newbie looking for an engagament ring to give my wife as an 10th year anniversary gift. I have been doing some research and have narrowed down my options to union diamond Vs costco. I would appreciate some expert advice about the following:

1. is union diamond a reputable seller? I saw a few internet posts about "over-grading" ie calling a very good cut as a premium cut
2. one of my friends (who recommended PS to me - thanks!), told me about a PS discount on union diamond. How much is that?
3. I''m concerned (probably paranoid) about the stone falling off...is there a specific setting that''s safer?

I do appreciate everyone''s indulgence towards someone wet behind the ears about diamonds

UDis reputable. Buy GIA/AGS graded stones to be sure of the color and clarity grades. UD can provide Idealscope image to help us determine the cut performance of the stone, especially useful for round cut. PS discount, not sure but I check that it is their wire-transfer discount, maybe that it or they will add to it, ask them.

Stone falling off can happen unless in a bezel setting. As long as the setting is well designed and the setting is well done, risk should be minimal. Buy an insurance and that will cover everything from loss, damage. :P

Thank you...your reply was comprehensive and reassuring! I will report back with an idealscope image.
