engagement proofs

So we survived our first "wedding planning weekend" trip to Texas. When we turned in the rental car, we''d driven 1100 miles in 4 days. No wonder I''m so tired!!! Anyway, a good portion of that trek was our engagement shoot. Only took 30 minutes. 10 hours round trip and only 30 minutes!!! Ah well...

anyway, without further ado (and to take your mind off the fact that I FORGOT to bring my camera to my venue....) here are my favorites of the engagement shoot. Keep in mind these are proofs, print screened off his site, so not the best image quality.

You know sumbride, how most people have a twin somewhere...well, yours is in Nova Scotia, Canada...I know a girl who looks identical to you...took me back a minute, but I know what her bf looks like and he wasn''t the same one - giggle

I hate that they put their logo on the proofs. They''re gonna give us the pics anyways. Mine were gonna give me the negatives in digital form. I don''t see why they had to put the logo on them.

Thanks everybody!!! FI was so nervous about it but he did pretty well. There were a few where we were both kind of stiff, but we managed to pull it together somehow!

Are you planning on incorporating these into a save the date or holiday card?

At first I thought I''d use them in the save the date, but I liked the logo Irina made for me so much we used that instead. We needed these for the newspaper announcement (small town) and for the wedding display.

I''m torn now though. FI admitted last night that he doesn''t like the way he looks in any of them. He''d told me to preview them because he REALLY hates looking at pictures of himself, so I picked what I felt were the best of both of us. There were some that I looked better in, and some that he looked better in, but these are the best shots of us together. I''m wondering how much of it is that he just isn''t used to liking pictures of himself or if the photographer isn''t right for us, but we both really liked the photographer. It''s frustrating.

I talked to him about it and he said he doesn''t like his smile in the pictures but he did admit he''s his own worst critic and I said "that''s the smile I fell in love with the minute I met you" and he said "I guess I''ll send them to my mom." It does make me nervous to get enlargements though if he''s just going to hate them. And how will he like our wedding pictures? We can redo engagement pictures if we have to, but we can''t redo the wedding pictures! I think he needs a shot of positive self-esteem!

Could you maybe have a little photo session with just the two of you and a digital camera where he can practice smiling different ways so that he can find a smile that he likes and feel comfortable doing it? I know I''m definitely going to have to practice having good posture before the wedding because mine is awful.

That sounds like a good idea Robbie, thanks! You''d think he would have found a smile he liked by 31 but nope, not yet. Maybe I can talk him into that.

Well, lucky me! I procrastinated long enough in sending the check for $150 to buy the cd of all our pictures that I actually came out ahead! He just put up an option to buy a single picture in digital form for $10, so I ordered my 3 favorites for $30 instead of $150! YAY! Just in time to get them printed for Christmas gifts for the sentimental family members.

That''s a great deal! Ours were $5 each to buy the proofs or something like $150 for all of them. The proofs we got were paper ones, though, so you couldn''t really blow them up. We ended up just buying all the proofs since our photoshoot included everyone''s family portraits as well.

One of my bridesmaids is also a wedding photographer and she told me she would do another shoot for us when we see her in April at the engagement party. I''m excited about that because she''s really good and she''s FREE!!! M feels a little more comfortable around her as well since he knows her. She also told me she''d print these photos for me for cost, which is awesome!
