HI! First post - LOVE this site! I''m on the hunt for a great quality EMERALD CUT
emteeth.gif
. Here is one that I''m considering - I''d love to hear everyone''s thoughts!!

Specs:
1.49 Carat
Emerald Cut
H Color
VSI Clarity
Exellent Symmetry & Polish
No Fluorescence
Thin/medium girdle
68 - Table
65 - Depth

Here''s what I''m thinking so far.
Downsides:
1) Table/Depth ratio - (Should this be a deal-breaker?
32.gif
)
2) Online retailer - I''d have to buy to see it
3) No Aset/Ideal Scope images available. I asked.

Upsides:
1) 2 week full guarantee/return policy
2) *Amazing* value

Question is: Should I grab it, or keep looking??

keep looking for the reasons you stated

I wouldn''t personally want a table that big. But if you like the look of the diamond, get the crown height. If they can''t give you that.... since you can''t get pi cs or aset, I''d pass, personally. Or ask another dealer than can get this information to call the stone in for you. That''s always something that can be done.

Don't know your budget... but here are a few that might have potential.

If any of them have a 'good' symmetry rating, I would ask why.

Get crown height and IS for any that look good to you.

Thanks for all your input!

1) why is a small girdle bad?

2) the stone costs $5,400 - still a pass?

I''ll work on posting a picture...

Missed that girdle. Extremely thin is very bad because it can chip very easily. The stone is unsafe. My bad. Even at that price, I wouldn''t want a diamond that could chip with the slightest bang at any time.
