Hi! How is everyone? I have become smitten with emerald cut diamonds. I do not know anything nor do I know what the first thing I should be looking at is! Can anyone link me to some nice stones? I''d like an emerald cut diamond that is more squarish then long (rectangular). How would would I be spending on a 2.5-3.5ct stone?
Any help would be great! Thank you in advance

Hi golden

Basic advice -

depth 70% or below
table 65% or less
crown height 10% or greater

The rest is images, preferably detailed photos and ASET. Also you sometimes need VS clarity and above as these shapes can show inclusions more easily.

What is your budget? If you could give a figure that would help.

Also, the color of the diamond will typically be more visble in emerald cut diamonds.;-)

The others have given you great advice. Crown height is super important, but visual evidence is the most important thing.

Where do you think I''ll be price wise for 2.3-3.5ct stone, can anyone link me to some good stones?

The price can vary a lot, doing a search for 2 carats and above you will be looking at 20k and more looking at up to H colour and VS2 lowest clarity.

There doesn''t seem to be much in house at the moment, what I would do is contact a vendor you like such as Jon at GOG or Whiteflash, tell them what you are looking for and let them hunt for you. They might well find something off the virtual listing they can bring in for analysis.

Hi Golden,

I LOVE the EC. I''ve viewed some stones recently with lower color and clarity grades than conventional wisdom seems to advocate (I,J,K and down to SI2) which were actually eye clean and faced up white. One GIA 2.8 ct. KSI2 that I looked at in person yesterday at a local Brick and Mortar was quoted at around 15,000. I looked it up on PS and the lowest online retail price was around 11K -- go figure.

Another EGL 3.01 HSI1 that I viewed yesterday in a different B&M was quoted just under $15K (I couldn''t find it online for a price comparison). This one, however, was definitely NOT eye clean.

Hope this helps -- and keep me posted on what you''re finding!
