Hi everyone,

I have made a couple of posts now about a couple of diamonds and have contiuned to research (this forum is a great tool!). I know that it is a common thing for an emerald to leak light in the corners. And I guess I am just curious how important is it? Below is an ASET on a stone with leaky corners. The ASET shows great in the center but the stone is pretty dark around the edge and clear in the corners.

Have you seen the diamond in real life?

Here is an image from the original ASET presentation given by AGS when they introduced the ASET at the JCK show. I suspect you can find something that looks better than the stone you have presented. The stone labeled 2 shows you an example of an ASET for a Diamond that is going to look much better than the one labled 1 and also than the one you have shown us.

The probable reason the one you have shown us is showing us so much leakage is that it was cut poorly to retain weight.

Thank you Wink for your comments. The forum has taught me so much already but I'm still learning how to read an ASET image, and what else to look for then just lots of red.

I have not seen the stone in person. Below is a video of a stone and I have asked for another video showing the flashing pattern in a more live action real life setting.

Lots of red does not automatically mean the fancy cut is a good performer. It is about the distribution of colour; how much of it (in combination with green and some blue) and where they are located.

From my reading/research on this forum and elsewhere, it seems that the leakage in the corners would reduce the scintillation. Where as the good light return from the diamond center would give the diamond good flashes?
