The good news for Tiger Woods is that the relentless reports about his marital infidelity did not stop him from being named the Athlete of the Decade by The Associated Press.
The bad news is that they apparently have caused the golf superstar's wife to leave him.

The golf star is honored on the same day his wife asks for a divorce.
A source close to Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, told ABC News.com Wednesday that a "divorce is 100 percent on."

Nordegren, a 29-year-old former model, was recently photographed without her wedding ring.

"It would not appear that Elin Nordegren is going to be standing by her man," Kate Coyne, senior editor at People Magazine, told "Good Morning America."
"Sources have told us that Elin has told us this marriage is over and she is looking to divorce."

I love how she says this like it''s a BAD thing that Elin is leaving. I''m all for trying to work things out, but there''s a point of no return, and I think it''s safe to say Tiger''s actions have gone past that point.

Good for her

I heard she signed a prenup but I wonder if it will stand up in divorce court when infidelity with so many women is involved.

I think Elin is going to walk away with gobs and gobs of ...

It''s a sad situation for their children.

uh-huh, told ya so...

I think Elin is going to walk away with gobs and gobs of ...(money)

Me thinks she would have rather had a faithful husband...and shared his money throughout a long and happy marriage, than to take a lump sum as a consolation prize.

I feel bad for their children too, but not just because of the divorce (which I feel is warranted under the circumstances) but because their father is a louse.

I wish Elin all the best...I feel sorry for her, but people who know her have said she is a very strong woman...she''ll bounce back eventually.

I think this is *better* for the children. C''mon ... this guy is a SOCIOPATH. He''s been sticking his unsheathed "business" into the day-shift at every strip club across the country and then bringing whatever he catches home to his wife. That is a man with out any CONSCIENCE ... the hallmark of a sociopath.

What do you wanna bet he would have been the same kind of tyrant his DAD was? When they were old enough to even INTEREST him that is.

What a schmuck! GO TEAM ELIN! And if I didn''t think it would turn into an epic media battle that would hurt the kids -- I kinda wish she WOULD sign with rival brand PUMA (as rumored).

Also, their kids are pretty young.

Any disease he might have picked up, could have been passed onto one or both of the kids if Elin had gotten it from him while pregnant.

Good for her...she''ll be fine. She''s young and beautiful and will have plenty of money to live comfortably on even if the prenup stands b/c she will get money for child support and probably lots of it. I wish her and her children the best.

Havne''t seen this reported anywhere -- but assuming it''s well sourced?

If it''s true, I''m impressed. Most women in celebrity scandal situations have stood by .. whether for money/lifestyle or depedance, who knows. It''s good to know money really can''t buy love.

And like everyone said..what he did is too insulting for a self respecting wife to justify giving him another chance. Wonder how he''ll rebound now..wife leaving is prob a worse PR blow than the sponsors leaving.

E-News last night reported that they found out he was still contacting the first girl, whatever her name is.

I tend to believe the bigger news sources when they release info. "E" and "TMZ" lose their credibility when they have to report retractions, so they are pretty good about following up on things before saying them.

If this is true, I''m dissapointd to say that it would actually disgust me even more...

The source is abcnews and is in my OP.
Click on the word, "Click".
Also LA Times has picked up the story, but not CNN yet.

BTW there are also allegations now that he may have used steroids.
If proven he may be stripped of golf titles and have to repay tournament winnings.

Here's an LA Times link about the NY Times steroids story.

ah got it. ABC news seems like a decent source. Def better than enquirer or tmz even though they seem to get things right more often than not..

Do you guys remember that song by Blu Cantrell:

Hit ''Em Up Style
While he was schemin''
I was beamin'' in the Beemer, just beamin''
Can''t believe that I caught my man cheatin''
So I found another way to make him pay for it all
So I went
To Neiman-Marcus on a shopping spree
And on the way I grabbed Sole and Mia
And as the cash box rang I thought everything away
(Oops)
There goes the dreams we used to say
(oops)
There goes the time we spent away
(oops)
There goes the love I had but you cheated on me
And that''s for that now
(oops)
There goes the house we made a home
(oops)
There goes you''ll never leave me alone
For all the lies you told
This is what you''re owed
Hey Ladies
When ya man wanna get buck wild
Just go back and hit ''em up style
Get your hands on his cash
And spend to the last dime
For all the hard times
Oh when you go then everything goes
From the crib to the ride and the clothes
So you better let ''em know
If he mess up you gotta hit ''em up
While he was braggin''
I was comin'' down the hill just a-draggin''
All his pictures and clothes in a bag and
Sold everything else ''til there was just nothin'' left
And I paid
All the bills about a month too late
It''s a shame we have to play these games
The love we had just fades away, away
(Oops)
There goes the dreams we used to say
(oops)
There goes the time we spent away
(oops)
There goes the love I had but you cheated on me
And that''s for that now
(oops)
There goes the house we made a home

And spend to the last dime
For all the hard times
Oh when you go then everything goes
From the crib to the ride and the clothes
So you better let ''em know
If he mess up you gotta hit ''em up
All of the dreams you sold
Left me out in the cold
What happened to the days when we used to trust each other
And all of the things I sold
Will take you until you get old
To get ''em back without me
''Cos revenge is better than money, you see
Hey Ladies
When ya man wanna get buck wild
Just go back and hit ''em up style
Get your hands on his cash
And spend to the last dime
For all the hard times
Oh when you go then everything goes
From the crib to the ride and the clothes

I know that money doesn''t make up for the betrayal, but I would spend til it hurt him. It is sad for the kids, but imagine what they will think if they ever see coverage of this whole mess.

This story is a stretch. A specialist that he used when he was recovering from his knee surgery, was caught coming across the border with drugs, and now they are linking them.

Personally, I don''t believe it, unless he used it to recover faster. From what I have heard, this has nothing to do with tournament winnings.

Good for her! It takes a lot of courage to walk away sometimes. Not sure who could forgive his dozens of mistresses, risking her health and the public embarrassment.

I think when steroid use is proven the Olympic committee has taken medals back because it gives an athlete an unfair competitive advantage.

I would guess the PGA would take winnings back if [IF] it is proven Tiger used illegal substances.

When it is proven that they used them either training for or during competition.

When Tiger used this doctor he was doing neither. He was recovering from surgery. It will be hard to prove if he did use them, and especially while he was playing. Just my personal opininion, that I don''t think it is true.

Good for her for leaving him. I hope she moves on - she''s beautiful and deserves so much better for herself and for her children.

LOL I was JUST thinking of that song! Haha!

I can''t say I''m surprised and I''m glad she''s doing it. An affair with one woman and maybe they could recover the marriage, but scores of women that keep coming forward? I don''t think so. Cannot be a healthy environment for the kids. It takes a lot of courage to leave and shake up your world like that, I applaud her.

I think she deserves all the money she can get for all the crap he put her through. He''s a slimeball. I think she''s doing what''s best for her and the kids.

If she leaves him, she''s definitely not a dumb blond. Boy, it would be so refreshing to see a cheating athlete''s wife just dump him on his a**. Not enough of them do it quickly, so I''m on team Elin all the way.

Who knew that the irony about Tiger''s last name would be more than just his clubs?

Irony is right...

It's only by the grace of a higher power, that the dude was given the talent & ability to swing a tiny stick, and make oodles of $.

Conversely, it's his swinging of another tiny stick, that is going to lose him oodles of $.

I think she''s making the right decision for herself and her children. Period.

There''s still time to order your commemorative plates for Christmas.
