EGL Israel

Hi guys, I''ve been lurking, but have finally jumped into posting

I checked the FAQ, but couldn''t find the information I was looking for. I notice on Abazias.com, many of the certifications are from EGL Israel. What are the differences in standards from their certs to others, like GIA?

EGL Israel is considered too be very soft on both color and clarity.
I wouldn't buy one without having an independent appraiser grade it and usually by the time you pay the appraiser you can buy a properly graded stone of the actual grade of the EGL Israel stone.
So its not worth the hassle......

From what I''ve read on this board and others, EGL Israel''s reports aren''t accurate most of the time. They tend to be one or two grades off what GIA or AGS would assess. EGL USA, however, is somewhat more respected as their grading tends to be more accurate.

I''m sure others will chime in with more opinions.

generaly yes, expect maybe one grade soft on color but they are often priced right taking that into account.
