Hello.
Brand new to this forum, thanks in advance for the info.
My boyfriend is in the market for an engagement ring- he will be viewing stones in person, not buying online. I do not want to be involved in the purchase of the diamond itself, though sometimes he does share his findings (he is proud and excited :) ). He has looked at EGL diamonds (international, not US). I know he is looking in the G/SI1 category. Could I please see a few pictures of some EGL International diamonds with this color/clarity? I do trust his judgment and I will be happy with whatever he gives me. I guess after all the bad press I would just like to see for myself what these stones look like.

thank you and warm wishes for a happy holiday season to you and yours, wherever you are!!

Even most knowledgeable vendors will not touch EGL Israel. They are often referred to in the trade as "Made as Instructed" papers. They are the staple of those who feed upon the ignorance of the clients they "serve" and sadly since most who use them are also uneducated in their own trade, they too are paying for what they are not getting and passing it along. When you allow the uneducated to educate the uneducated there are going to be PROBLEMS> When you allow an educated but dishonest person to educate the uneducated there are going to be BIG PROBLEMS.

Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise. I've read a lot about this topic, therefore the concern. What would be most helpful would be pictures as previously requested... I thoroughly understand the reputation the lab has... What I am hoping for is visual examples of the G/SI1 stones that EGL international puts out. Thanks again

Here's their D IF with excellent cut.

Seriously, pics are worthless.
There is no consistent "conversion factor" as in two or three color and clarity grades.
It may be 7+ grades, and it will not be consistent.

Also diamonds graded by those flakey labs are not a better deal.
You are being lied to and ripped off.
The sellers know what they have, and send diamonds to those labs because they can charge more for them as an EGL E VS1 than a GIA K I2.

GIA or AGS diamonds are not only cheaper, they actually are what their grades say they are.
You have to decide if you are person who wants to wear a lie, or the truth.
Nothing wrong with buying the lie and overpaying, just be aware that's what you are doing.
