Hi there,

We need more info please, the depth, table, crown and pavilion percents - diameter, polish, symmetry and girdle thickness. Can you find out if the EGL report is EGL Israel, USA etc? Is the diamond already set, does the setting have any accent diamonds?

Hi thank you for quick response .

Well I have the little report from EGL USA dated april 28 2008
Report # CA 95906603

I even tried looking up on the website EGLUSA.com but no luck.

would this information help?

sorry forgot to inform
Shape : Round Brilliant and its already set in a 18k white gold ring.

HI Diamond Heart!

I don;t feel it''s possible to properly assess the diamond based any lab report alone.
IN the case of EGL, the important thing to remember is that the grades issued by any of the EGL''s are not taken seriously by dealers and cutters throughout the world.
If you were buying a $2000 J/SI2, I''d be less inclined to warn you of these differences- when buying a lower quality stone, the exact grading matters less.
If I was spending $7000 Canadian, i would not look at any stones that did not have either GIA, or AGSL reports.
I hope this helps!

Agreed. However if you''ve seen the stone in person and love it, and the dealer is willing to make the sale contingent upon an independent appraisal confirming the EGL documentation with 100% return if it does not prove to be E color, SI1, then you might consider the diamond. You would be out the money for the appraisal if it turned out to be a disappointment.

I don''t know how CDN compares to USD? Does the $7K include the setting? There are quite a few pricescope sellers with E, SI1 1.03 diamonds anywhere from mid $3.5K (EGL) to $6.5K AGS and GIA.
