EGL Certification?

Hello everyone,

I have been searching for a vintage ring for the past 6 months and I am nervous about buying online. I have narrowed it down to a few different rings and have contacted some of the vendors with questions. In one of the vendors description it stated that a ring was platinum; however, in the EGL certification report it stated that it was made of white gold. When I asked the vendor which was correct they told me "the ring is certainly platinum, however, EGL opts for ‘gold’ if the ring is not stamped. If you would like to purchase this ring, we are happy to stamp it ‘platinum’ and have EGL reprint the certificate on your behalf at no cost to reflect the change." My questions are does this sound legitimate? Will EGL just reprint a card after a vendor put a stamp on it?

I did look up the certification number on EGL's website and it has the ring with the same weight and dimensions; however, no picture of the ring, which makes it hard to tell if it is the same ring. I also have a phone number to call them tomorrow when their office opens, but I am just wondering if anyone can provide some knowledge on my questions?

Thank you!
