I see you''ve had to resort to bribing them! I hope they appreciate the treats they''ve gotten today and produce some eggs for you tomorrow.

Haha. I am desperate! Who knew laying hens would refuse to lay?

The girls had their first whole, new potoato this morning and loved it. They pecked and pecked at it, so funny.

I bought DH some wraps but he didn''t use them all before they became hard on the edges so I thought I would give one to the chucks and they LOVE wraps from Aldi. Love them. So far today they have had 3!

Do you think wraps + new potato = eggs?
You never know....

Day 17.

Surprise surprise.....NO EGGS!

How do you get laying hens that don''t lay. They sit. Then they walk about, but they don''t lay.

Who knew this thread would get to day 17 with no eggs?

I went shopping with DH yesterday and we stopped by the free range eggs section as we have not had an egg in the house in 2 weeks. I wanted to do some baking and DH loves an eggie for breakfast so we really wanted to put them in the trolley. They were even reduce in price - it was like the egg laying Gods wanted us to buy them. But we didn''t, we have confidence in our hens (

Luv & Lore,

I feel like I am letting you down
15.gif
. And I couldn''t lay an effing egg if I tried all day long.

On the up-side, I have really happy hens. They will let DH pet them now. So sweet.

You better start checking the coop for Rainbow flags.

I''m thinking you picked two ladies that like each other more than eggs

Aw Steel, don''t feel that way! Hehe I think it''s fun rooting for them!! It''s so egg-citing! Just think how much rejoicing there will be when they do lay! Is there a typical average time hens take when brought home before they start laying again?

And that''s so sweet that they''ll let him pet them! I''d love to see a photo of that!

Awh, shucks. Thanks Luv.

They are a blessing to have around and have really lifted my spirits these past two weeks.

Lorelei probably knows the average laying times better than me. The breeder told me to give them 7-10 days before they lay. Well they have had that and more.

I will try to get a pic. DH does have a certain way with the ladies

The hens are so incredibly cute and the house is a charmer. Be patient and let nature take its course. Watching the water in the pot doesn''t make it boil any sooner.

Seriously it can vary, around 21 weeks is the average so Eth and Aggie might not be there yet. When they do lay expect some teeny eggies or incomplete membranous ones to begin with until they get going!

21 WEEKS? Or 21 days?

Or is 21 weeks their age?

Age 21 weeks is when they can begin to lay although this varies. about 5 months old give or take a bit is when they start egg production.

Hello and welcome (officially) to eggless watch
35.gif
,

Thank you for the compliment & dust. I think the hens might need some dust - although they seem very happy their are still no eggs.
