Found this surfing around Rhino''s site...in his clearance section (cool idea)--I guess for those stones which don''t meet his strict standards.

Anyway it has all the analysis done on it, very interesting because the picture of the actual stone in the tweezers looks very pretty!!! All sparkly and clear. But the #''s don''t look impressive, nor does the HCA score (7.7 with 2 poor''s!), nor the light return, or Bscope.

So this may be a case of where to the naked eye the stone looks pretty good, but the numbers are all way off? Experts? Rhino? You''ve seen the stone, what do you think? Would this be considered a typical maul cut or better?

A good exercise!

The thing that jumped out at me is that when I compared the first photo (in the tweezers) to the firescope (or whatever-scope) image to the image in the purple box thingy, is that there is a dark ring around the table in the first photo -- you can actually see where the light is leaking -- and this dark circle lines up with the light leakage in the firescope.

Yes I noticed that too but its SO slight...its very hard to see. I wonder if the sparkle and scint of the rest of the stone would overpower that slight darkness? If that is the 'ring of death'..it is very puny. Hee Hee.

You also can see how badly it's cut just from your naked eye. There's a decided lack of internal symmetry. We say that you don't need a H&A to get a good stone, but a good stone should still have a noticable symmetry, even if it's not perfect.

Interesting point about "The Ring",.... On the Optical analysis pic, it looked like 2 half moons, upper right hand and lower left hand sides.

It will appeal to someone who wants size in a reasonable price range.

The pretty colored light pic's are a good example of how back lighting a diamond can make the leakage areas seem quite attractive.

Good to see that all the cut grading systems agree on this one being a bad buy.
It would appear smaller than a 2.2ct stone when worn side by side.
