Has anyone head of these guys? I''m getting considerably worried, since I recently got three loose diamonds, with their certificate. I have no idea how reputable they are. Yes yes, I know the whole "stick with GIA" thing. I don''t need anyone telling me that, I just want someone who has experience with the EDL to give me their take and impressions with it.

Any help or insight would we great! thank you!

EDL ???

Do you mean EGL (European Gemmological Laboratory) or HRD (Diamond High Council)?

I think the Israel Diamond Lab has just rebranded EDL because Israeli labs got a pretty bad name.

How can a lab in Israel call iteslf European though?
Well.... maybe when the south part ofTurkey joins the EU.....? It is just a hop, skip and a jump then?

The Israeli lab relaunched itself last week, and its name is IDI (International Diamond Institute)

IDL is International Diamond Laboratory, the newcomer from Dubai.

you are correct Paul - thanks

Come to think about it..., Could the East part of the UK reach the USA? Other wise can you explain the EGL-USA call???

Their new name is WGI (World Gemological Institute). www.worldgemology.org

According to my info..., some manufacturers have submitted Diamonds both to GIA and WGI..., and a high percentage of color clarity grades came back identical!

And as I hear it..., they are starting to make waves...
They claim to be using AGS's standard for Cut grading rounds.

Worth following (in my opinion.)

If WGI is a success, we''ll all be looking for diamonds with "Widgee" reports before long.

Years ago, I wanted to name my lab "Philadelphia Institute of Gemology". You could call those "PIG" reports. Somehow it just didn''t sound kosher to me!

A little humor for the day.
