Since LOGR has been offering less and less mountings, and since their prices are going up, I thought maybe it would be nice to share some other sites we've explored and/or purchased from. This will give all of us more options when looking to show off our colored lovelies to others.

I have not purchased from all of these vendors, nor am I personally endorsing any specific vendor with this post. I am just posting this for the information and convenience of the other posters.

BADDDDD INFLUENCES I SAY! BAD!

Thanks Uppy!

Thank you so much! Just what I need when I need it.

I bought a gold band from Pompeii3 that was very nice. Not light at all. Jewelryhoo has nice settings, but they are a bit light and hollow feeling.

Wow, thanks so much for this thread.

I have recently purchased a number of new stones and been struggling for settings so this is BRILLIANT! (and dangerous  )

Beyond Jewellery is great. I've purchased from them before.

This is so helpful, THANK YOU! :appl:

Can everyone please add their fav Etsy vendors?

I'm in the process of annoying DanielM about the moldavite, so here's his link:

I am happy there are so many choices for colored stone mountings for the feminine side, but I looked at each URL, hoping I might find something for my own stones in a little more masculine mount, but out of the over 4500 mountings in the vendors on this thread, not a single men styled mount for cut or even cab rings. Does any one have a source for men? I have been salvaging mounts from the local gold exchange, but men mounts are rare :(

Here's all I can offer you for men's settings: http://www.tripps.com/prod2_ring_round.htm

Not a lot of selection, though. You have to search through each stone shape (round, emerald cut, etc.) and at the bottom of the page they have (precious few) men's items. They have tie tacks, though! I've purchased from here a few times, and they are reliable.

I appreciate all the listings in this thread - it is wonderful to check out these vendor references knowing other PSers have had good experiences with them!

Here's another suggestion for men's rings: arts gallery on etsy.com. I'll try to paste in the URL:

Here's a great PS thread about delayedreaction's asscher men's ring created by Arts Gallery:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/first-asscher-ring.145940/?hilit=rhodolite ring
In case the thread doesn't work, you can search for it by "First Asscher Ring" as the topic.

Delayedreaction's thread (and incredible ring) prompted me to check out Art's Gallery. I ended up with one of his rings modified for my blue zircon and have another project currently in the works. I highly recommend Art - he does beautiful work, a real craftsman, and you can see on his website many of his designs are masculine or unisex.

Thanks for the links! I use Tripp's quite a bit as they usually allow me to get a silver mount for fun and a gold one if it looks serious! I have been waiting for the local Comm.College to offer a lost wax metal sculpture class, but money is tight and there isn't a great demand for that job offering at the moment.

Have you tried precious metal clay? You form it like clay and then hit it with a blowtorch. The clay burns off and you have a solid silver object. Its cool stuff and most libraries can order in a book (setting stones in it is tricky) or you can buy them off the net. If you can do lost wax then PMC is easy. It's not cheap at $35 for a gum ball sized bit but it's worth investigating.

Just came across this ebay store with amazingly cool, and seemingly handmade mounts. After you win the auction you message them with the size of your stone and they make it FOR you. I can't wait to try them out.

They have men's designs, pendant and earrings, as well as rings in gold and PLATINUM! The prices are not to be believed! And they don't look like every other Tom, Dick, & Harry Chinese vendors' offerings.

I've bought from Bluefoxx. The setting I got was very pretty, but one prong was cast wrong and I've never been able to get anything set in it- it'd require a fairly intensive fix and would cost more than I paid for teh setting. Plus they said it fit up to 6.5mm round stones, and actually 6mm was the max. So it's been sitting in my jewelry box for years, unset. (I waited too long to have my jeweler look at it so I couldn't return it.)

I prefer Kim Wheeling at jewelryrings.com for those antique repro settings. He'll modify them for you- make the prongs pointy, or fit different size stones, or whatever. Granted it's been a few years since I bought from him though.

I just bought a setting from jewelry*zone, one that's not on the list yet:
http://stores.ebay.com/jewelry-zone-NO-1

14kt rose gold, intricate setting but no diamonds, priced at $145 BIN, free shipping. I made an offer of >20% off, which I though might be on the lowball side, but they accepted it. Since the stone size was exactly what I was looking for and the ring size was very close to mine, I didn't ask them to customize it. I'll have to let you all know how it looks when it comes in.

Here's the setting (it's for my Barry rhodolite):

I would be interested in more information on this...where do you purchase the PMC? What makes setting the stones in it tricky? I can get it off the net you say???

Masculine...eh...I ordered a ring and asked him to do something similar to what delayedreaction had. I did not realize it was masculine. I am waiting for my ring. All of it is not surprizing, considering that many modern jewelry items, actually, are unisex! We are moving from "boyfriend's jeans" to "boyfriend's rings". =)

Crasru, I just came across your reply - I should have mentioned in my prior post that I am a female, and the ring I purchased is not masculine in any way to my eye. In fact the ring I purchased presented as more finely wrought and with more delicate proportions that I had anticipated based on the photos on his website. My ring has a high-polish finish and I think that makes it more "feminine" if you will. However, after I showed my ring to my husband, I pulled up the original inspiration ring on Arts Gallery's website with the oxidized finished, and he said "I could wear that ring."

To me, Arts Gallery has a variety of rings that would suit women and men - the designs range from traditional to modern, all with a twist of originality. I'm certain your ring will turn out beautifully, and I'll keep a look-out for photos.
