Ebay Semi Mount Measurements - Are they backwards?

Hello,

My partner is in the process of purchasing a semi mount on ebay from one of the companies in China. I think either lan.bo4 or beyondjewelry3. My question is when you read the size information for their semi mounts they always seem to put the width first and then the length. Ex. 8 x 10 mm oval or 8 x 10 mm emerald cut semi mount.

I have emailed them but haven't had any success with them understanding the question due to language barriers. We are specifically looking to order an 11 x 9 mm semi mount and am just wondering if they will know that this is 11 mm long by 9 mm wide? I am worried that we may get something that is 11 mm wide instead. Has anyone else ordered a semi mount that wasn't square and what did you put in for the measurements?

Typically the longer length is always the length. I've never had any problem with lanbo when buying his settings. I think it's just the way they word the adverts that's confusing!

I am guessing that these companies do not know that there is a sort of standardized l x w x h. I wouldn't worry about it, you're stressing out about nothing. The longer measurement will correlate with the longer dimension in the picture. And if it's wrong, you just send it back for a refund or get it remade.

LD and Freke are correct; typically it is the length x width x depth but for some reason, these eBay vendors always reverse it to show width x length instead. In short, if you are looking for 11 x 9, you are safe to get what has been listed as 9 x 11 mm. No worries about them giving you a wider than longer setting.
