Hello,
I just received my first Ebay semi mount purchase for a loose stone.
I purchased the semi mount for a round stone that measures 5.4mm and the semi mount was listed at 5.5mm. I assumed that the stone would fit down in to the mount when placed on it, but the stone is much wider than the distance of the prongs. I have seen other PS'ers rest their stones in their semi mounts for photos, so I am thinking it was made too small since my stone is way too big to rest inside the prongs. The prongs only measure 4.5mm apart with my calipers. Since this is my first attempt at a project like this, I am wondering if this is normal and the jeweler will make the prongs wider when he sets my stone, or was the semi mount made too small and needs to be returned?
Here is the semi mount I received just for reference:

Thanks in advance!
