I have noticed a few ebay sellers who give me shipping quotes and tell me that insurance is my option/choice.
This seems funny to me, since ebay tells me that the seller has not completed their end of the deal until I sign for it and it matched the description.
That means that insurance is the *seller's* option, not mine. The seller will be liable in the event of a loss whether I pay for insurance or not.
Do sellers simply not understand how things work? Or am I missing something? I do not think you can pass on liability in the event of a loss -- a seller cannot say "you chose not to pay for insurance so you are SOL". Can they?
