Hi guys , I have been negotiateing for a ring on ebay that I want to buy it''s from MDC diamonds, who from everything I''ve read so far they seem pretty reputable.
However seeing as the photo is a stock photo, when I requested a picture of the actual ring, this is the reply I got:

"All the info we have on this diamond is displayed on this page. We take from each ring style we have one picture and keep making the same model again and again."

I''m not sure if he''s really answered my request????
What do you guys think?
It can''t be that much of an hassle for him to take a photo and email it to me, right????

it''s ebay. if you have to even ask if it''s suspicious you''re in trouble.

clearly diamonds (you know, the most important part of the ring) aren''t so important to them if they won''t give you a pic.

please, please buy from a reputable vendor (list of net friendly dealer here: http://www.pricescope.com/dealers.asp) and save yourself the headache of ebay.

Is this for a stone or a ring? Maybe each piece is made to order? I have not heard of this company, so I really have nothing to go on as far as their reputation, but I do know that there have been several ebay horror stories here!

Thanks for your replies, I guess you guys are probably right. Apparently he is reputable, There''s a alot of good feedback on ebay and the wider web. but he has been reluctant in answering my queries. It is a 0.5ct stone thats already set in a band with 10 other rounds (= 0.25ct).

I agree with belle. do a search here on ebay and you''ll find way more horror stories than happy ones. not that deals can''t be found there, but it''s a giant flea market where it''s way to easy to get taken advantage of. I think the fact you are having doubts would lead me to say my grandmother''s favorite phrase: When in doubt, don''t. there are too be reputable jewelers out there with great customer service, tons of pics of stones they have in stock and wonderful return policy''s to even mess with the risk of ebay for such and important and expensive purchase IMO.

My motto is stay away from ebay. Yes we''ve seen some people do well buying there. But usually it''s a small diamond bad, etc... For something like an ering, it''s just too risky. You''re better off buying from one of the vendor''s here. No smoke and mirrors with them. Hope that helps.

OMG! i totally agree with you guys now, look what he said to me after further queries into tyhe quality of the stone:

"this diamonds comes only with EGS appraisal so they don''t list all the above info. also girdle and culet do not come in % just small, very small and none in culet, and think medium to think in girdle. all these info. is not crucial for buying a diamond of this size."

It''s a half a ct! how big does he think a stone needs to be to be graded!!
Anybody reading this, stay away from MDC Diamonds, both on ebay and they''re other websites!
and to think i almost purchased here.

i''m glad you didn''t become another statistic or a horror story in the forum search!
