Having a ring made and can't decide between EW or NS diamond halo. I love EW but wonder if it will endure time, or if it is more a fad. What do you think. Center stone is oval 2ct.

I don't know how to tell if a new style is here to stay or not so I'd just get what you like the best now.

I think this depends on your finger size/shape and hand too. How would an EW halo look on you? Do you love the look? If it suits you go for it. No absolute right or wrong here. Depends on your individual preferences.

Ring size 7, fingers are average size not stubby.

Try rings on with halos of the size you’re considering oriented both ways and see which you prefer.
Sometimes what we like on others doesn’t work well on us. Best to try out your options.

I didn’t think it was a fad, just an option. I like both looks.

I think North to south is more flattering to the finger and that east-west would be better on someone with long thin fingers.
But I could be wrong!

I think it depends on the style. I’ve seen some gorgeous East West interpretations, including one of my all time favorite rings, Chrono’s violet spinel. I have to find a picture!!

Fat or skinny oval?
Fat or skinny finger?
It depends on the design too.

The east-west setting isn’t a fad. It’s common in antique Georgian jewelry.

That said, I agree that it depends on the shape of the gem and the finger.

I think it's personal preference re orientation. I prefer E-W because I tend to stack rings. I only wear 5.25-5.5. so most of my rings are smaller (by PS standards) so the look is in proportion.

It depends on the stone, the setting and the hand.

DK :))

I think n-s can elongate the finger, but it’s all preference. A good bit is how you’ll set it too.

My thought is that north/south is conservative whereas east/ west is more “edgy”.
Is your style more traditional or are you more avant-garde?

Correct, IMHO.
