earring jacket rant

Ok.. I got the wife earring for our wedding day and of course she loved them. Now that Christmas has come I decided to get her earring jackets from the same reputible jewler and I present them to her and YES you guessed it the earrings did not fit in the jackets. I am so Pissed and confused. It was the jewlery professionals who suggested the size of the jackets and all and now they do not fit. This was our first christmas together as husband and wife an I wanted everthing to go perfectly and it did up and until the jackets did not fit.

Mike....... from a wife of 22 years let me tell you, it''s the thought that you "wanted" it to be perfect for her that is the best part of the gift, not that did or did not. She''ll be more than happy to take the earrings in and let the jeweler find the fitting jackets. Your thoughtfulness is what was the real gift!! Good job, and many happy years ahead to you both!

Oh, Mike, don''t let this spoil your holidays! We almost always have things that have to be exchanged. My hubby ordered me a really beautiful ring that was too big and I returned it today. I am sure the earring jackets can be exchanged for the right size!

Mike, as a husband I understand your frustration. We want stuff to WORK. And it''s flipping annoying when it doesn''t and we CAN''T FIX IT!

However, I''m sure this can all be resolved - perhaps even to your advantage. How about suggesting to the jeweller that some little compensating gift would be appropriate?

Mike, I would echo the other posters. When DH and I first were married I wanted and expected everything to be perfect and really upset myself trying to control the uncontrollable. I was much happier when I realised that things would not be perfect.

Oh yes, we definitely understand here! But like the others have said, I am sure that your wife is just so thrilled that you made the effort and wanted it to be perfect for her. It is so sweet that you did this for her, and I am sure that she appreciates it
