I have a 1/2 ct. pair of princess cut earrings and recently got a 1/2 ct round cut pair of earrings as a gift. I really don''t want two pairs of earring of the same size---what options do I have. Can they be combined to make a 1 ct. pair of earrings (1/2 ct each ear?) If so how much money do you think it would be?

I have 2 thoughts - can you exchange one pair for something else at the place where you bought them? You can also use one pair for side stones on a ring or get a third stone (maybe a gemstone) and have a 3 stone pendant made.

No, a 1 ct. total weight pair of diamonds costs more than 2 half carat total weight pairs of the same quality. My advice would be to change the settings of one pair, such as to leverbacks or bezels or else just exchange them for something else.

Yep, great idea. Here''s exactly what I''d do with the Princess. Compliments of justjulia.

This would be like an entirely different pair of earrings. Love these!

Perfect, Ellen!!!

Thanks, I thought so too!

Your options really depend on where they were bought and the jeweler''s policies. But as it has been said before unfortunately two quarter carat stones are significantly cheaper than two half carat stones.
