I thought I'd do a quick post and ask for some opinions.
When I joined PS it with was with a view to up-grading my e-ring. What I hope to end up with is a new RHR - happy days!! - and so my DH and I agreed we'd just re-set my existing e-ring for now and do a full upgrade in about 3 years time.
I'm looking at fairly plain and simple settings - http://www.tacori.com/Engagement-Rings#/4015RD6 and http://www.tacori.com/Engagement-Rings#/462RD6.. As don't live in the US I was thinking that when my RHR shipped out that I could get the band made for my stone (Flanders 0.75 E SI2) also shipped out and then have the stone set by a local jeweler. The major problems with this are: 1) not many people, including jewelers, have ever seen a Flanders, so I'm a little concerned but I guess it could be done 2) it voids the Tacori warranty - only really an issue in relation to the latter setting and 3) it's very likely the setting can't be re-used if I upgrade to a larger stone in 3 years time.
Because of these issues - and my budget - I was thinking it might be a good idea to get the Tacori ring set with something like either of these two stones? http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9001/ or http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9280/ That way the stone is set properly, the warranty remains intact, and when I go to upgrade the stone, the money spent on the stone can be put towards the upgrade on a trade-in and ya never know, I might be able to sell the setting on consignment too! I know the above stones are both low in colour - but as an interim measure, this is the best I can think of - and I might enjoy the change, it's not forever, right, and I still have the Flanders.
My preference is for the warm AVR in yellow gold http://www.tacori.com/Engagement-Rings#/462RD6.. Thoughts?
DH is not keen on sending Flanders to the US. DH also says this is all just too hard! DH is also wondering what happened to his non-diamond obsessed wife, who didn't speak in binary code.
