E-ring size dilemma

I've been wearing my e-ring since March when I got it. I was a *bit* worried about the size after I recieved it. When I tried on sizers in a local jewellery store I was between a 5.5 and a 6 so I ordered Grace in a 5.75. I received it in March while it was still cold in Toronto so Lesley at BGD advised me just to wait and see what happened when the weather warmed up. Well it fit perfectly in the summer. But now that the weather has cooled off again, the ring feels loose again :( It feels like if I flung my hand hard enough the ring would fall off my finger. Sometimes when I reach in my pocket for something I have to be careful that it doesn't come off when I pull my hand out.

I know I could get it sized down a bit but then it'd be too small in the warm weather. I'm sure of this as I wore it to hot yoga today and during class it fit snugly but after I cooled off again it was back to being loose. The ring won't fall off on its own but I have to be consciously careful of what I do when its cold.

I just ordered my wedding band in a 5.75 as well. Should I consider a 5.5 and wear it to "block" the ering from falling off? I'd like to wear the wedding band on the inside though....

Advice?

A 5.75 should be fine. Wearing the e and w ring together have the effect of having a wider band, it will result in a tighter fit.

Does the 5.75 fit perfectly in the summer that is .. can it go smaller while still being comfortable? If you can go snugger in the summer, then I suggest you resize both rings to 5.5. If you want to wear the w-band inside, don't wear it outside just for the sake of keeping the e-ring snug. How are your fingers? Are your knuckles the biggest part? If that is the case, sizing beads might work too.

I find it extremly annoying when rings are loose (ie. my current e-ring is about .25 too loose and it spins like crazy). My problem is that I am too nervous to resize my e-ring - it is extremly delicate and filled with pave and the jeweller even warned me that something bad will happen if I just go to any jeweller. I just don't have time to take it back to the US and get it resized.

Stone-cold may be right but my personal experience is that even wearing a too big e-ring with a wedding band was not enough to make it fit tighter for a 0.25 size difference. However, my bands are around 1.5 mm so they are pretty thin. How wide is your band?

Sizing beads. They're really perfect for that. My ring fits a much larger range of sizes w/ them in it; fits perfect in really hot weather and is only a bit loose in the winter. You would probably only need small ones if it's not too loose. Mine are quite large and I don't feel them at all.

I agree with stone cold. Wait til you have both rings. Unless your rings are very thin, less than 2mm I think you will be ok with the 5.75.

The other option would be to go slightly thinner on wedding band since but leave the ering.

Good luck

I get my rings sized so they fit comfy in the winter and snug in summer. I HATE loose rings for spinning. Adding a wedding band in my experience does snug it up about half a size. I would get the wb half a size smaller. It will be handy when the wb is worn on its own. And I would size down the e-ring most likely, too.

My wedding band is 1/4 smaller than my ering for the same reason. My ering was accidentally made larger than I ordered so rather than have it sized, I ordered my band smaller to hold the ering on. It works perfectly.

I would not want to risk flinging off my ring or having it caught on something and loosing it.

My rings are quite thin and the pair did not feel any snugger.

Thanks for the advice....although the different responses still leave me unsure what to do.

I just ordered the w-band on Friday from BGD. I'm sure I could call in and request it to be made smaller if I make the request soon. But sounds like I may not need to. Maybe I should wait and see how the wband fits with the e-ring? But then I may need to send BOTH back to be re-sized. Though since I'll be wearing the w-band on the inside I don't know if that'll make the two fit snugger together. Also, I don't plan to wear the w-band on the outside as a stopper so not sure if ordering it in a smaller size would affect the e-ring.

The e-ring band is 2.5mm wide and the w-band is ordered in the same width. I would never wear the w-band alone. I dislike the look of a 2.5mm plain band worn alone on my finger, its too thin. I got the e-ring band so thin so that I could wear two bands on either side of it (some day). I plan to wear the plain platinum w-band on the inside and then eventually get a 3/4 eternity band to wear on the outside. Or vice verse with the stack. I could always get the eternity band sized a bit smaller to keep everything else on, but I'm not planning on getting the blingy band for a few years.

The e-ring fits perfectly in the heat/summer. I wouldn't want it to fit smaller otherwise my fingers would "sausage" around the band when I get hot  When I get cold, my knuckles are really the only thing keeping the ring on. Well that and a steady hand. If I had to, I could fling the ring off past my knucles.....which freaks me out a lot.

Hmmmmm, Jamie did mention the sizing beads when I called in.

I guess since the w-band will be ready in two weeks I could just wait and try them on together. I have a feeling that something is going to have to be send back in for re-sizing.....

If you are really worried, how about getting a 1mm spacer band? You can wear that on top of your ering in cold weather, or when you have to have your hands in something that you worry may make you lose your ring, but taking it off doesn't seem like a safe option.

My rings are loose in the winter and snug in the summer - unfortunately there is just no perfect size for every season, at least in my case. They are definitely more snug when worn together, and we're only talking a combined width of 5mm. I'd wait until you have your wedding band, and then see where you are at on the fit.

FWIW, I've contemplated getting two smaller bands in a slightly smaller size to wear flanking my ering in the winter to keep things a bit more on the snug size.
