E-ring setting is making me lose my mind!~

Keep the current setting, doing the "Soleste" inspired halos, or do this new one?

Hi Everyone,

So I posted a while back about my recent custom e-ring upgrade that was a double halo for a 1.24 asscher. I've worn it off and on for about a month, and I'm pretty sure I'm never gonna love it or stop being embarrassed by it. It's not the size or the fact that many people think it doesn't look like an e-ring. It's just that it looks disproportionate to the stone.

I''ve been on PS everyday...just looking for the one setting that will make my heart sing for once! There are lots, but they all include a bigger center stone :)

Anyways, since that's out of the question...I've been thinking about doing a "Soleste-inspired" double halo. Until this am...I walked into a store and saw this...what do you guys think? I like that it doesn't look like the millions of halos I see in the area I live in. Literally, every girl has a halo here....with 2ct+ center stones, too.

Your current setting is big, bold, and makes a statement. The workmanship is exquisite.

This setting is also big and bold, and also makes a statement. It is, however, of far poorer design and craftsmanship - the lines are discontinuous and confusing to my eyes. If your current setting "embarrasses" you because it's 'overly large', 'busy', or 'gaudy'... I honestly think this new setting is most definitely a downgrade

Pretty much this... also, unless the jeweler is going to make a new setting to fit your center stone, this one will be way too large and have an airline the size of West Texas. It looks as if this new setting was made to accommodate a MUCH larger stone. I really like your current setting, but you are the one who needs to be happy with it... :))

Thank you Yssie. I'm like a little kid...all I see is finger coverage and sparkles. I don't even know how to look at craftsmanship.
Like I said, I really am losing my mind.

msop04- hahaha, I'm dying! You're right this setting was made for a larger stone, but the guy at the store said he could fix the prongs and make the stone look like it's bezeled to fit. I officially need meds. I just want a ring!

OP, do you think you'd like to have a setting that will keep the overall size, but break things up a bit?? Somethinng with a deliberate airline, like this Beverly K ring? This belongs to a PS member (webdiva) and is one of my all-time favorite BevK settings...

I have this exact pic on my phone's camera roll. I LOVE it, too! Would you prefer this over a "Soleste-inspired" double halo ring?

I think it would suit your stone's size nicely (this was from the 1ct and under thread):

Absolutely! I love the way it breaks things up a bit -- it is interesting to the eye without being busy or confusing... also, this will allow you tons of options for your wedding band since it has so many different shapes. I love this setting so much!! It's so elegant!

Agree that new potential setting is even more "busy/tacky" so would either stick with what you have or go for something simpler/clean lines etc.

cctiny, i had to go back and see what was going on with your first re-set. first off, i'm sorry you havent been 100% happy with your ring, and i'm glad you have the opportunity to get the ring of your dreams. in your first thread, gypsy gave you some great suggestions that you seemed to love, i'm wondering if you had a change of heart about what you wanted? I really really loved the double halo she posted, it's so delicate and would give you the bigger size without all the bulk and distraction from your asscher. this one you're posting seems really distracting and would i think, also take the focus away from your center stone.

I do Love the one Gypsy suggested...that is one of my options which I just called "soleste-inspired"

The truth is, I'm not sure what I want anymore, I'm terrified of pulling the trigger on anything. Because this would be it, the end all be all, no changes, no going back, forever and ever setting

I have to admit I'm not a fan of this new model either. I'd truly consider one of the designer settings that's already been posted. I understand you want some bling but it needs to be tasteful IMO or you will always be self conscious of it and that defeats the whole purpose.

You should follow your gut and NOT do ANYTHING right now. I totally get what you're saying about wanting your "forever" setting (I designed my forever setting not too long ago), but it takes time and patience and trial and error.

It took me two years, and a lot of CZ/cheapy samples of "this" style or "that" one. It was worth paying the small cost for the cheapies, since the final product was going to be so expensive. So, just keep trying on different styles, even cheapy versions of costume jewelry that you'd never wear IRL (Walmart, Target, etc) until you can start to narrow it down.

Right now, you just seem a little confused by all of the options and I'm afraid you're going to purchase something else that you'll hate.

I'm sorry cctiny, I'm not a fan of the new setting either - just really busy and not sure about the quality. I much prefer your current setting!

I'm loving that Beverly k setting - I think it would check all the boxes - would make your diamond stand out, give you some nice finger coverage and bling, and is a little unique and different from the usual halo styles.

I also really like a soleste halo - but I agree with others, don't do anything right now, give yourself time to look at different settings and think more about what you really want. Hang in there and don't get upset, you'll figure it out!
