I think I am really close to making a decision about what E-Ring to buy but wanted to get some opinions on the 3 I have narrowed it down to. I have seen K colors in mortar stores and I believe she will be happy with that. What I do not know is what effect the "faint brown" or the medium blue florescence will have on the diamond. Also the HCA score is pretty high on the biggest one. I guess all things considered, which one do you think will look the best in a white gold Tiffany setting?

Lastly going on a little rant here (Feel free to ignore :)) I did find an amazing looking 1.2 VVS2, J in a local store that has a very knowledgeable military friendly staff but they wanted ~7200 for the stone (Stone budget ~4300) I mean when I took it outside in the sun that thing almost blinded me, it was beautiful. Does anyone feel its possible to talk them down to at least $5k for the stone, or is the only way to avoid their up-charge by purchasing online? The first thing they mentioned when I tried to talk about the price is "layaway" and "payment plans" YUCK lol not going into debt over this :) I guess the good thing is they agreed to verify any stone I brought into them matched the certificate. Also, I will call them tomorrow and try and get a link to the certificate to that diamond so the experts here can give me their opinions.

Thanks for all the help

None of these score well. Ideally you want a stone with a score around 2 or under.

I would drop clarity a bit to get better color. Why pay for something you literally cannot see? You WILL see color.

Maybe get these two checked out:

1.25 / K / VS2 / HCA 1.0 / $4,284.17

It's got a messy table, but being VS2 it may be eye clean still - you need to get that confirmed.

1.22 / K /VS1 / HCA 2.0 / $4,342.63

I was trying to check lower clarity for you, but the PS diamond search seems to be freaking out! Stuck on loading for me.

faint brown should have a brown tint to it and be pretty obvious. Here's what a K, faint brown looks like zoomed in and where you can rotate:

if you want a well cut diamond, you'll probably have to sacrifice either size or clarity to keep it in the price range you're after.

I liked the rings you posted. Might have to consider that second one especially. Any insight into the one I liked at the store? Got the cert below.

Thanks

One of these is a faint brown K, one is a G and one is a D. All excellent cut.p1070496.jpg

my 2 cents: Because the camera has one eye it doesn't capture all the sparkle which, in a well-cut diamond, masks color in person [2 eyes]. I found that the K pictured above [seen in person] had hardly any discernible color from the top and was beautiful.

Feelings on colour are really personal, some actively like warm stones and others don't. For me personally, I think $500 extra is worth it, as K's are a pretty broad colour range, so a J is safer if you haven't seen the stone.

Should I be worried that for the above J "Clarity grade is based on clouds that are not shown." ?
