Looking at buying a round 2.0-2.1 carat solitaire for an e-ring. We want ideal cut, H or better color, SI1-VS2. From what I've been researching, as long as you buy ideal cut with ideal optics, you can go lower in color and the diamond will still appear colorless....? I've also read that in person, to the naked eye you cannot see inclusions in a VS2, or even a good SI1. Looking at a Victor Canera http://www.victorcanera.com/jewelry/engagement-rings/pave-four-prong-solitaire ring.

We saw an ideal cut 2.01 H SI1 ($25k) in person next to an ideal cut 2.02 F, VVS1, ($44k) and they appeared identical. I'd say that I am "color-sensitive" and the H did not even show a hint of yellow, even compared with the F. Just a little unsure about buying a diamond sight unseen, online. Totally not into buying the "best" diamond just because it's the best, when we can get something "lesser" that will look the same as a better one.

Is this a good diamond? http://www.victorcanera.com/diamonds/q07pm0

Yes, that is a good stone. Its an AGS000. Evaluated to have ideal light return.

The VC diamond will be beautiful! Did you ask him if it is eye clean? The Zoara diamond is a little deep, so it will face up slightly smaller than the VC diamond. Notice the diameters are different by ~.1mm. Also, I ran the Zoara diamond through the HCA tool and it got a 3.6 - "Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right". If you aren't familiar with the HCA tool, here is a link https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca. It is used to weed out diamonds that score over a 2, particularly as you are looking at on-line diamonds. Of course, it is just a predictor of light performance, not guaranteed. An AGS Ideal (VC's diamond) already tests for light performance so you don't need the HCA with AGS diamonds. Hope that helps a bit!

That diamond looks gorgeous! From what I've seen on PS, you just can't go wrong with Victor Canera. I'm hoping to use him when I reset my ering. :))

Victor said "This particular diamond would be considered a very good Si1. The photo posted online is magnified about 20x. There are 2 different types of spot lighting on top of the stone and its photographed using Swiss optics. The stone is definitely eye clean and I would say that many consumers would be hard pressed to find the inclusions with a magnifying loupe as well."
