Hello All,

Ive been researching this forum for a while and wanted to thank you all for the knowledge. Now that i am close to buying the special ring, i wanted some input. I am looking to set an oval stone in the classic Harry winston micropave design (likely by kirsch, leon mege or mark morrell). originally i was looking for a stone in the 10k range. I saw some nice Gs and Hs that were around 1.7-1.8 carats with varying claritys and cuts. But then i came across this diamond from good old gold:

it is big for its carat weight and i just wanted to know what you all think. how would it look in a setting similar to this?

Once again, thanks for all the help - this is a great site.

The reason that it is large for its carat weight is that it is shallow (57.6%). Have you talked to anyone at GOG? Someone there should be able to give you an honest opinion on what effect the depth might have.

If you check the diamond wiki here on PS, the depth range for higher cut classes is 59-63%.

It doesn't look like a good performer. You want a lot more read in that ASET image.

For the setting, for best quality you will need about 4500. Platinum handforged. For CAD it might cost less-- 3,500 or so.

Thanks guys. Yeah 4500 is about the price I got from Leon mege and Steven kirsch.

Can't decide who to go with. Any input?

Steven. I trust him more with outside stones (stones not bought by him). He did my ring and one of my best friends. Both have been fabulous. And his customer service is 100,000,000% better (incomparable).
