E-Ring flanked asymmetrically by plain band and eternity?

Hello,

I have a BGD Grace solitaire and can't decide on a wedding band.

I love the clean look of a plain platinum band that would match the band of the Grace. But I also love the look of a solitaire with an eternity band (something like VesperGirl's where the band looks more rounded vs boxy).

I was thinking of getting the plain band in the meantime since I can't make up my mind fully about which eternity band I love the most. And then I could always add the eternity band later, say as an anniversary givet to self :) I could wear the e-ring flanked with the plain band on one side and the eternity ring on the other.

What is people's opinions about an asymmetrical stack? It would be great to flank the e-ring with two eternity bands but I know that not happening any time soon AND that would mean I'd have to make up my mind about which eternity band to get sooner than later.

Anybody wear their rings this way--in an asymmetrical stack?

I know that if I got the plain band to start I could get a eternity band later and just not wear the plain one. But since I'd be marrying with the plain band it would have a lot of sentimental value and I'd like to be able to wear it. Also, since I like the look of a few rings stacked, I'd be open to wearing three rings at once (my e-ring is 2.5mm wide and I'd get the plain band and eternity band to match the width).

Opinions welcome :)

Aww, thanks, I'm flattered that you like my set!

I actually frequently wear my bands & ering asymmetrically stacked. I am trying not to wear my shared-prong eternity every day since I've lost/chipped stones, so instead I wear my sapphire & diamond band on the bottom, my channel-set asscher band (original wedding ring) in the middle, and my ering on top. I'm on the wrong computer now, but I'll post some pics of that set later.

I now really wish that I had just gotten married with a plain platinum band, since my diamond bands get dirty with everyday wear - it would have been great to have a plain band for everyday wear, especially with little kids. I love the BGD Grace & the matching band. I think that LynnB has that set and it's GORGEOUS.

I love the look of all type of stacked bands under an E-ring but it would be even better once you get your eternity to wear your plain band in between the E-ring and the eternity as a spacer to minimize damage to your setting.

I do an asymmetrical stack sometimes. I love my mokume band...but I also love my bezel eternity, so sometimes I wear both!

Yes LynnB IIRC was the first one to have the Grace e ring and matching band and I fell in love with that set and the look in general.

Interesting that you say you wish you got married with a plain band....maybe it IS best to just go plain for now and then get a blingier additional band later to stack, using the plain one as a protective spacer.

Please do post more pics later if you have time :))

Good point about using the plain band as a spacer.

I wonder how much of a beating the plain band would take once rubbing against an eternity ring? I guess it totally depends on the setting of the stones int he eternity ring. I was gonna ask if BGD could make a pave or shared prong eternity with the exact same profile as the Grace e-ring. I've foudn so far that many rings I try on in B&M stores have very different profiles than that of the Grace e-ring band.

My e-ring band is a lot finer at 2.5 mm but your stack gives me a good idea of the asymmetrical look. I like the look of diff bands stacked so things are so matchey matchey looking. And I like the different stacking options too.

Re: E-Ring flanked asymmetrically by plain band and eternity

I wear a plan 1.5mm band then my 2 ct round diamond with Tiffany setting(Superbcert version) then my 2 ct eternity. I like having the thin wedding band at the top so that if my hand is cold or my fingers are slippery my set wont slide off.

Re: E-Ring flanked asymmetrically by plain band and eternity

My original wedding band had bead-set diamonds. Later, I added a plain band to wear above the e-ring sort of as a ring guard. So my preference is still to wear the diamond band at the base, then the e-ring, and then the plain band. It's great to have more than one wedding band!

I preface this with I'm not a photographer and I just got a new camera but I wanted to give you an idea of what it looks like to wear the small band then the solitaire then the eternity.

Makemepretty, your rings are GORGEOUS!!!

Sirbenson, here are the pics I promised, all kinds of stacks with different bands. I just reset my solitiare into a classic Tiffany 6-prong knife-edge setting, but all these pics show my old 4-prong cathedral setting.

Thanks for the additional photos. Gives me really good examples of what an asymetrical stack will look like--I quite like!

Vesper, is your sapphire & diamond band a Bev K? It looks fantastic w/the solitaire..

Hey SDL, actually the sapphire band is from ID Jewelry - a few other PSers just got them in aquamarine, ruby & tourmaline also ... they have them in every color.

Re: E-Ring flanked asymmetrically by plain band and eternity

I adore that sapphire band too. Beautiful with your rings.

Re: E-Ring flanked asymmetrically by plain band and eternity

makemepretty, what carat weight is your eternity band? It is so beautiful with your e-ring!!

Re: E-Ring flanked asymmetrically by plain band and eternity

My eternity band is 2 ctw and my solitaire is 2 ct. I thought if I had them equal the same carat weight it would be a great balance and I think it worked out pretty well. Thank you for the compliments.
