I have to go to a wedding next month. I bought a cute dress that is floor length. But I cannot wear my normal heels. My RA, even with medication, isn't controlled to the extent that I can wear high heels. Plus the wedding is just before my Remicade infusion, so it will be more active then.

My toes and the balls of my feet are the problem, and heels put a lot of pressure on that part of your feet. I have to wear orthopedic (ugly) shoes most regular days now anyway.

So I am planning on getting the dress hemmed. But I still need shoes that will work. I'd prefer something that will allow me to buy a size up and put a really padded insert in. Budget up to $100.

I'd prefer a cool metallic: silver or pewter or gunmetal if at all possible. 1.5 inch heel max.

Can you guys help me? I just don't want to wear hideous shoes to formal occasions. So a pair of nice shoes that I can wear and re-wear would be perfect.

I started looking at Latin Dance shoes, the higher quality ones with suede interiors and nice soft leather. But they all take too long to ship.

My thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Gypsy,
I have similar problems.
I have had luck with my hard to fit feet from Zappo's sister site 6pm.com. I hope this helps.
If you care to give size info I would be happy to help look.

Have you tried Aerosoles, Gypsy? I have had good luck with them in the past. They are also relatively inexpensive too.

I agree. The first pair I posted were Aerosoles. I purchased Aerosole wedge pumps for a recent business trip and didn't even have to break them in, they felt great brand new out of the box. I don't have arthritis, but I have an ugly case of hammer toes.

How about something like this?

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/j-renee..._sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_10_B

(Sorry - I'm having trouble with the picture feature)

I have to be careful choosing shoed because of bunions courtesy of years of living badly. :wink2: I have a pair of "Me Too" wedges that I use when I usher - as in stand on my feet for an hour or more at a time. They're easily the most comfortable shoes with heels (probably 2 1/2 inches) that I own. Nordstrom's used to carry this brand but I'm not sure they do anymore... I sometimes see them at Marshall's though.

I like the pair you posted deco. I'm not sure of the pointy toe though. But... might be worth a try.

Jason'smom and misskittycat -- I like those aerosoles (and dr. schols) , but for everyday. I would wear those to work, and I was really hoping for something feminine. I guess for me a floor length gown needs... a little more? That's why I looking for something a little fancier, so I could just buy one pair and wear them for all fancy occasions (hence the metallic so I never have to do this again). Thank you for all your help.

I want something like this: http://www.espow.com/spring-women-s-flat-shoes-fashion-diamond-casual.html?monetary=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&es=15&gclid=CPLus8CFjcACFUMLMgodLWkAng But I know nothing about that brand or that site. And I prefer a rounded toe.

I really like these, but I can't imagine paying this much for them: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/pdp/detail.jsp?&navAction=jump&id=32586703&color=007&cm_mmc=Google-_-PLA-_-US+-+Shopping+-+Shoes-_-Flats&adpos=1o1&creative=54276074364&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CLaOuL2EjcACFUw2aQodZF8AEw#/ I could put a nice insole in them. And they're... pretty. But 120 bucks for that nauseates me.

These are inexpensive but the review makes me pause: http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/Blossom-Womens-Lynn-20-Rhinestone-Bow-Slip-on-Flats/8924270/product.html I don't want to look like a 5 year old.

These don't feel fancy enough: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIB-HUSH-PUPPIES-Womens-Chaste-Ballet-Flats-Shoes-Silver-Stud-HW05246-050-/171417823943?var=470455890381&_trksid=p2054897.l5659

I don't now, maybe I should just look for fancy shoe clips? And put them on regular satin flats? Like from Davids?

Moneymeister, I've had good luck on 6pm myself. Actually the best luck I've had with them is getting Nordstroms to price match them. But I will look on there, thank you.

I love these too, I bet they would work plus they look as if they would offer a good balance for you Gypsy so you should be comfortable. I am so sorry you suffer from this, it must be terribly painful and rotten that you have trouble with shoes when we ladies love them so.

It might be worth checking out some dance shoes for the future, I love those ' twenties' style dance shoes, they are comfortable and so elegant.

I hope you have a fantastic time at the wedding, you will look fabulous!! xoxo

Hi Gypsy, I am sorry you are suffering with RA. Here are a few different options that might not appeal to you at all but just in case I thought I would add these choices. Have a great time at the wedding and I know whatever you wear you will look beautiful and most importantly I hope you remain pain free!

I like your idea of adding something dressy to a more comfortable casual shoe to make it more dressy. I also have a problem finding comfortable dress shoes and often just wear ballet flats with an orthotic insert but that doesn't work for everybody. I don't care if the shoe is "dressy" per se as comfort is number one priority and also I love to dance so don't want to mess with that. I wore flats to my wedding lol.

Nevertheless I searched for some options for you and hope you find the perfect pair of shoes that can see you through many occasions in comfort and style.

One thing I will mention though I am sure you already know about this. Whatever shoe you choose if you add supportive orthotic inserts for cushioning it should help.

Ok. I think I might do shoe clips like these: https://www.etsy.com/listing/88263594/a-pair-of-glass-crystal-shoe

With these. Talbots has easy returns if they don't work out I can take them back. They are leather and the run big, which works so I can get insole in them.

What do you think?

I really like this option. Those clips are beautiful.

Friends don't let friends bedazzle.

Gypsy, I haven't' worn heels in years on my weird feet, too painful. I've bought from Footsmart & Aerosoles quite a bit. If you read the descriptions of the shoes, you can find them with arch support or padded insoles. I've been pretty happy with both of their shoes. They do have them with un-pointed toes, important to me, and that's actually coming back into style. I can't wear Easy Spirit; the last just doesn't fit my feet.

I can truthfully say I feel your pain!

No bedazzler here, but I strass (in other words, I apply thousands of tiny, Swarovski crystals to designer shoes). I've done mostly Christian Louboutin shoes so far, but my latest project is strassing a clutch. All it takes is some E6000 adhesive, Swarovski crystals, and lots of patience :D

Taryn Rose, founded by an orthopedic surgeon, are comfortable and stylish. They can be pricey but I see them deeply discounted on ebay, new in the box. Good luck!

There are several here that might work Gypsy...

http://ninashoes.com/felixa-platino-laminato--17478?c=213
http://ninashoes.com/fresno-silver-reflective-fabric--16550?c=213
http://ninashoes.com/freedom-silver-laminato--16532?c=213

And I'm thinking a wedge - as long as it's dressy enough, like these seem to be - might be more supportive overall...

ETA: these are adorable (and a little less expensive than the ones posted previously) http://ninashoes.com/pauline-ivory-crystal-satin-mesh--17460?c=214 (for some reason I can't link to the silver ones)

Gypsy, I came across this blog last night: http://theenthusiasticlife.wordpress.com/2012/12/21/shopping-with-arthritis-my-favorite-pain-reducing-shoes/

That's an entire post from a young lady with RA who loves to dance. Maybe there is a brand or particular pair in there that will spark your interest. I was intrigued by the glitter Toms--depending on the wedding crowd, those could be really freaking cool.

I can send you my bedazzler. ;)) The last project I did was an abaya for my Arabian horse breeder friend. Never bedazzled shoes before!

Momhappy, I had no idea strassing CL's was a thing. Several years ago here on PS people were blinging out their phones and sometimes their wedding shoes, but I thought it had gone out of vogue. Apparently I was wrong, after a quick Google. I thought CL made shoes that were already strassed? I guess DIY is money-saving, but I just read a blog post that said it took the author 30 hours??? That is some bling dedication!

Now that you mention it... I seem to recall some seriously self-blinged out shoes shown here on PS! Didn't Freke bling her own wedding shoes>

Sorry for the diversion!
