Hello!
35.gif
Sorry to thread-jack, but how is all the planning going? I see that you're picking out a dress!
4.gif
Not a threadjack at all since I brought it up =). Planning is going very well since I finished the bar exam early this month. We had a little church snafu last week--I didn't post about it because I was too upset about the situation. The church we had originally wanted (FI had registered there and made a significant donation) gave the date to someone else because we were "missing some paperwork." I wasn't sure what else this church wanted because we had flooded them with paperwork, and I was so upset that they had been stringing us along for two months. I ended up finding a new church closer to my reception venue, and our meeting with the priest there went very well. I think it was meant to be there.

With all the church issues settled, we were able to lock down the venue, put some deposits on a few vendors, and set the date in stone. I was SO HAPPY it finally happened. The venue provides us with a wedding coordinator; she is basically a free wedding planner, and I absolutely love her. She has been so helpful so far, and I'm looking forward to working with her. She is making a lot of the vendor arrangements with people she knows well and who work well at the venue (they have 350 weddings a year there, so she really knows what she's doing).

I'm meeting with photographers this week and trying to decide on a dress. I'm trying to get a lot done in the next few weeks before I begin my real lawyer job.

How are your plans coming along? I've seen some of your posts, and it seems like you are pretty far ahead in the planning. It's fun to have a date twin!

ETA: I just found your update post from a few days ago

. Sounds like all is going well. It's great to have some time off where you can focus on planning!

Another vote for number 2!

Congrats on finishing the bar exam!!! When do you find out about it? I am applying to law school..sigh..so hopefully I''ll be where you are in a few years! I am so sorry about the church not working out. What they did is really wrong!
29.gif
It''s so weird when churches of all organizations act mean! It sounds like the new church is a much better option. I am glad it is working out better, I agree with you sometimes things are meant to be! That is awesome that you have a coordinator with the venue!!
36.gif
Should definitely take some stress off of you. It''s great to get people who already know the venue. I know the venue likes that..and I think it just makes it easier for everyone in general! I know the one florist we met with wanted to "nail" up tulle and decorations onto the structure of the ceremony site...that is TOTALLY not going to fly. The second florist I met with knows the venue very well, so I feel a bit more comfortable with them. Let us know if you need help with the photographer decision! That can be a really hard one. I am doing pretty well. Getting a bit impatient waiting on the second floral quote.

I know they are busy, I just want to know ahhH! I am going to meet with two studios tomorrow for formal bridal portraits. I have a photographer, but he really only does on-location kind of stuff mostly. I''d like a studio portrait for my house and my Mom and my Grandma want one as well. It''s kind of head-spinning isn''t it?! We''re so far away, but it seems like I am doing wedding stuff every day!
6.gif
Definitely sounds like you are doing the same. Anyway, yaaaay date twin!! And congrats on your job, so exciting! Are you going to be going into a big firm?

I am definitely going for an appropriate wedding-sexy look. I want just the right balance between ''make-FI''s-eyes-pop-out'' and ''appropriately-virginal-for-grandma.''
HaHa! But seriously, I like the guidelines you''re using.

Anyhow, definately no. 2. No. 1 wasn''t even in the r4unning for me because of how shiny (aka cheap) the fabric looks in the photo. No. 2 is very flattering.

I concur - dress #2!!!

It really suits you and your body! I am not a big fan of #1.

Wow, it sounds like you are super-busy, but very organized and on top of things. Good for you--it definitely gives you some peace of mind to get some of those big items crossed off the to-do list. What kind of flowers are you having? June is such a great month for flowers--all the most gorgeous ones are in season (peonies!!).

The bar exam was July 29 & 30, but I don''t find out until October if I passed. I am terribly anxious and nervous. The exam was so incredibly hard, and I felt pretty awful about it. I''m keeping my fingers crossed. I am actually not going to work for a big firm--I am going to be a public defender. I''m just waiting on the state office to assign me to my permanent post; however, if I don''t pass the bar, I immediately lose the job, so that is creating some major stress for me. Where are you applying for law school? Let me know if you need any advice regarding anything in the application or school selection process. I am happy to share my knowledge!

How soon are you getting your bridal portraits done? Do you have your dress already?

i vote dress #2 as well.

It might be the camera, but the "shiny-ness" of dress #1 isn''t really flattering. I know it''s probably very pretty beading, but i''d be concerned that if you weren''t standing just right, the dress would look bad in pictures. I''d rather have a dress that i don''t have to be concerned about what angle i''m photographed from and how my dress is going to look at that angle. i''m also not that crazy over the over-the-shoulder scarves.

I like #2. it's gorgeous on you.

The reason I don't like #1 is that I don't like it in the picture with the straps draped around your arms. It looks like it is falling off you.

Is that the way you would wear it? Or would it be more along the lines of the way it is shown on the model picture?

ETA: Okay, I actually read your original post now. I would prefer the chiffon of dress #1 as a halter and would reserve judgement until I saw it like that on you. But, knowing that you want it off the shoulder I would look at placing them higher up on your arms....maybe???

Hellooo!

Thank you for the compliment! I try to stay organized, wish my apartment reflected that. It''s pretty disorganized currently!
14.gif
So far for flowers..we''re thinking about peonies and/or ranunculus (looove them and they look pretty similar), pink-tipped hydrangeas, spray roses, all kinds of other roses (cabbage roses, etc.), etc. We are going to do a lot of greenery I think, but not too much if that makes sense! My bouquet will be mostly cream and green. The bridesmaids will be pink with green and my MOH''s will probably have a tiny bit of cream. We''re going to do little to no decorations at the ceremony site since it''s an outdoor garden area. No reason for a crazy amount of flowers there (yaaay a money-saver!). Inside at the reception we''re going to do these 4x4 glass cubes I believe with a bit of greenery in it and a lot of pink and cream. Do you want to see the inspiration photo I have for the flowers? I am still..still waiting for the second floral quote. But in their defense it was just a week today.
12.gif
I am impatient, can you tell? As for the bridal portrait thing..I went today to two different photographers for portrait prices and wow...I underestimated the cost. I think I managed to find the most expensive one in the area. The second one wasn''t too bad, but in order to do the first one I''ll have to rework the budget and cut a thing or two. Trying to decide if I like their portraits enough for that.
33.gif
But both places said I need to get the portraits done preferably before the beginning of May to guarantee they can have it to display at the wedding. Ideally they said the end of March/early April would be great. My dress is in! But I haven''t had it altered yet, so I''ll have to do that before any portraits. If I wait until April it should pretty much be the final fitting I guess. So do you know which dress you''re leaning towards?

I am sorry you didn''t feel so well about the bar! But I am sure it went well, it''ll be fine. That is awesome that you''re becoming a public defender, nice to see some law-school graduates still have heart and not everyone''s out for the $$$ in big law firms!
4.gif
I want to help people somehow with my degree and I am just not sure I could do that by charging them crazy amounts of billable hours. But maybe I am misconstruing things or something. I am sure there are good people out that working at big law firms as well. I am sorry you have to wait until October..that has to be rough oh my God.
6.gif
That will drive me nuts! Thank you so much, I am so willing to take any advice!! I am applying to all the good law schools in VA...and to all of the major DC schools. Did you apply to any of those? Did you go to a big school or a small school? Thank you!!

I love dress number 2. I think it is stunning on you. (You should send your photos to Watters because it looks way better on you than on the model.)

Your flower choices sound wonderful. I love the pink-tipped hydrangeas. Actually, I love all hydrangeas! They are such pretty flowers. I was thinking pink and green, too, but am now leaning toward eggplant purple instead of pink. I change my mind every day, though, so we''ll see what happens. I''d love to see your inspiration photos! I am supposed to be meeting with a florist next week, and I have NO IDEA what I want.

I now must go searching through your threads to find your dress =). I hope the portrait thing works out ok--I would just shop around until I found someone that was more reasonably priced. As far as my dress goes, I am leaning toward Dress 2, especially after the overwhelming positive response from PS, family, and friends.

I went to a state law school. Although it''s part of a big university, it has only about 150-175 students in every class, which was a nice size. Another law school in the region has over 400, and I think the smaller class worked better for me. I didn''t apply to any of the Virginia/DC schools since I knew I wanted to stay out west. My only East Coast school was Yale; I''m sort of kicking myself that I didn''t go there. I think that, for law school, it is probably best to go to the best school you get into because so many employers care so much about where you went to school. It''s not as much the case with government employers, but it still matters to them.

Defo 2, its a different level to 1 imo!

Yaaay we have similar flower tastes! Well, don''t worry you have plenty of time. The florist meeting will help solidify what you like, but the two I met with told me I could change my mind a bunch up until they had to order the flowers. I got my second floral quote (yaaay) and it was HALF of the other floral quote. YES! Score!
36.gif
Thank you about the portrait! I think I may go with the less expensive company. The more expensive one has gorgeous portraits..but some of them are kind of not my style. So why pay more money when I could end up not liking it?
6.gif
Yaay number 2!

Wowowow..you got into Yale?! That is awesome!! I am applying there..but I don''t have too high hopes. One can dream, right?
12.gif
I noticed some of the schools are huge..which concerned me a bit. GW for example is very large I believe. But hey if I get in to any of the top ones..I''ll go. I''ll deal with the size later I suppose, haha. I''ve heard exactly what you said. For government it doesn''t matter as much, but for corporate jobs or firm jobs it matters a ton where you went. I guess we''ll see..*sigh*. It''s so crazy expensive, but it''s worth it in the end I suppose.
4.gif

I agree dress 2 looks better. The material of dress one just seems a lil off to me.
