This isn''t really an LIW topic, but I know you read this board...

We went shopping for wedding bands today and one of our stops was Tiffany''s on 5th Ave. (which is really something any time of year, but kind of amazing around Christmas - although not nearly as crowded tonight as last year at this time).

I tried on the Legacy (which was my favorite of the pictures you posted), and round channel-set, and a couple others. And I have to say, I didn''t really love the look of any of the channel set rings with my engagement ring. I did LOVE the shared prong, though! My fiance also like that one the best.

Sooo, I think on your next trip to the mall, you need to go to Tiffany and try on your RB and RB w/baguettes with the wedding bands. They looked so different on my hand than they did in the photos! It was so strange - I really thought I knew what I liked until I tried them on!

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to respond to you. I was on vacation last week so spent most of the time wrapping presents and baking cookies.

You are so lucky to have the ability to go to THE Tiffany in NYC. I'm jealous!!!

I can't wait to someday go in there. I'd think I had died and gone to heaven.

So you tried the Legacy on with it....what did you think of this one? I'm really leaning toward that look right now but you are SO SO right. I need to try the wedding bands on with both engagment rings. I told S about this more than once and he actually agrees. But I think it's more a matter of maybe HE agrees to do that when he is more ready to actually buy a ring. So it might be a while before then. I have such an urge to go out there and try on these bands with the engagement rings but I wonder if I should at least leave that part to do with S without forcing him or suggesting to him that we do this. (or doing it on my own) Maybe I will give it a while yet. It would be a nice experience to have WITH him there wanting to see...

I know that I have tried on the Novo band with the Tiffany Setting along with the Legacy, the Channel Set Round and the Shared Setting. I think that's it...With the RB Tapered Baguettes I've tried on only the Novo.

Until then, I'm thinking about at least getting an idea and photoshopping the rings onto my hand. Do you think that's over the top crazy? Or should I do it? lol!

I was exactly the same way... I fully intended to get the 2mm Legacy band until I went in to Tiffs to try it on. I wasn't crazy about it so we thanked the SA and started out of the store... I glanced at a couple of display cases on our way out and on a whim, I tried the Jazz band, because I thought I might like it as a RHR someday. Bam! There was my perfect wedding band!!

Sure does make a difference trying something on, that''s for sure!!! I never thought I liked the Tiffany Setting but when I tried that on, I fell in love with it!!!

BigT- I saw you posted recently today so I''m bumping this thread back up!!

Thanks for the bump, Dreamgirl!

As a Tiffany lover, you must get to the 57th St location (the mothership!) at some point. It''s huge - and I''m pretty sure they have stuff there that''s not on the website at all. Plus, there''s something thrilling about having the elevator operator announce, "Second floor, engagement rings!" when the door opens...

Anyway, I didn''t love the Legacy with my engagement ring. They just didn''t seem to go together. But they looked different in person than they do online!

I might just go back to the first wedding ring I tried, which was the Beverly K alternating round & baguette band. Actually, there''s a jeweler I''ve purchased from before in the diamond district who said he could make a similar ring (for about $1,000 less), so if I decide I trust him enough that''s probably what I''ll do.
That jeweler told me I have very "vintage" taste (based on everything I pointed out that I liked), so maybe that''s why the Tiffany rings weren''t my cup of tea. I think channel-set bands look pretty modern (but I may be wrong).

If I don''t end up with the alternating round/baguette, I will definitely get the shared prong band, because that was very classic and elegant. It kind of kills me that you can get such similar rings for a lot less money elsewhere, so I do have to think about how much I value the Tiffany stamp ($4300?!).

If I remember correctly, you said somewhere that you''re pretty small/petite, right? That may change how rings look on you, also. I''m tall, and wear a size 5.5 ring, so I feel like I don''t want anything too too delicate - I like a little extra sparkle (without being too flashy). I think is a big difference between channel and prong set bands in terms of how much they "show up."

Anyway, they wouldn''t let me take photos, which is sad. But I''ll let you know what I end up with!
