OK I have verbally agreed to buy a 3.09 SI1 H Dream Diamond by Hearts on Fire. The price I am paying is 37k, anyone know if this is a good price? It is hard to find a jeweler who even carries this diamond and certainly hard to price shop for it. Please any info is appreciated, I need to put 10% down next week while it is getting mounted.

Thanks for any feedback.

WOW - Stormrider has found you some AMAZING and much less expensive options.

Nice work, Storm.

I'd go with one of these all day long rather than the overpriced HOF.

It is a DREAM diamond by hearts on fire. It is like a princess cut, but comes down round to increase the brilliance. Brilliance scope ratings are

I can do a search pretty easy for the round diamonds, I am trying to find out if the price is good for a DREAM hearts on fire diamond.

Anyone out there know anything about the DREAM diamond pricing?

I believe the Dream Diamond (Hearts on Fire) is their square modified brilliant. Its tricky to find squares that give off that much sparkle...but there are some really nice cuts on the square to give you that sparkle without as much "paying for the name" Take a look at Queen of Hearts and Regent and Lucere on goodoldgold's webpage.

Strmrdr,

The Hearts on Fire "Dream" diamond is a square shaped diamond. It is a round brilliant cut applied to a stone, so I believe it exhibits hearts and arrows, but it is square with clipped corners. I actually got to see one yesterday at a brick & mortar. Very, very pretty, especially for those of us that like square stones!!

Metalspine,

Yes there is quite a premium attached to the Hearts on Fire brand, however, I know that if this unique square shape is really what you are looking for, and you know there is a premium on it, it is not likely you will find a lot out there in this shape and beautiful cut. The closest might be the regent cut that Good Old Gold sells. To me however, the regent looks too much like a round, but I will admit that I have only seen pictures of them. Maybe in that large a carat weight the regent might look more square.

Also, there is another square cut diamond on the horizon. You may want to private email Rhino from Good Old Gold (he posts here) and ask him to keep you updated on this new cut.

Hope this helps.

metalspine,
the pricing for HOF is technically supposed to be preset by the company. when i was shopping for my dream diamond, i was told by several dealers and many here on pricescope that there was no way to get a discount for any HOF stone. i did indeed find that to be true at five out of six of the HOF dealers i visited. all five of them quoted the same exact price for one particular stone (it was a memo stone) because most dealers just quote the price off the HOF retail website. if you want to be sure that the dealer is not ripping you off, ask to see the HOF website with the price quote for your diamond (make sure the dream #s match) on the screen (as only retailers have access to HOF pricing). this is, of course, assuming you already know and are prepared to pay a premium for the dream diamond. it just so happened, the place i ended up buying my dream stone from had substantially discounted prices on all their HOF products due to "a special relationship/agreement with HOF." so it is possible to find discounted prices on HOF no matter what people tell you. for reference, my 1.237 F VS1 dream was quoted by five dealers as $19K but i purchased it for $15k. so your dream diamond for $37k doesn't sound out of line at all to me. hope this helps with your purchase! and good luck!

The bets I woudl expec for the stone would be 32-35k. I would agree that there are branded squares with similar optical performance and perhaps better pricing policies, but some premium over H&A rounds is to be expected for any of them.

Given the HOF's readings (and hoping that they are using the same scale on the Bscope as for the rounds - not a requirement, so I woudl ask about this) some improvement in brilliance is possible. However, this should be an impressive stone.

Best of luck !
