If you itemize deductions on your federal income tax, you can deduct the property taxes. Sometimes that works out better than taking the standard deduction.

I paid mine a few days ago. I work near the county building, so I just walk over and plop the envelope in the slot -- easy and cheap.

I considered just paying both halves, since I have enough in savings and it isn''t earning any interest anyway, but... nah. Old habits die hard.

Mine are paid thru escrow. When we bought the house, it wasn''t homesteaded, which reduces property taxes. We applied for it right after we bought the house and it went into effect, but our escrow payments were based on the higher amount. We got a refund check for $1762 earlier this month after the property taxes had been paid. I was stoked!

Wow, that is crazy. For our last house, we paid $5,000 a year. I thought that was bad.

Ours are also paid through escrow. Where I live they''re due in June, so we''re all paid up for 2009 and are putting $ towards 2010 now.

Choices, choices... on where we live.

My property taxes are about $2000 per year; and it is paid from escrow.
