Does this seem like a good pear shape?

At 1:1.61, that''s a skinny pear. With a depth of 54.7%, it''s shallow. You could be looking at a serious bowtie in that stone.

I agree with Cinnabar that the depth is on the shallow side and could show a bit of a bow-tie. The l/w ratio is in the preferred range which is 1:1.50 to 1:1.75. This one is right in the middle and will depend on YOUR preference of shape. Some like them fatter, some like them thinner. Personally 1.60 is my preference. Have you seen any pears in person to get an idea of the ratio you like?

I agree with cinnabar and diamondlil. Pears you have to see in person or a pic at least. I prefer ones that are 1.60 as well and don''t have a big bow tie.

Whoah, that second one is very deep. It will look small for carat size. A depth of about 60% would be better.

And strong fluorescence is something you need to be careful of, although it''s not a total no-no. It''s really something you need to judge for yourself in person.

Cin, thanks for all your knowledge. Just what exactly are good specs for a pear then? Depth, l/w ratio, etc.

too shallow, as you have been told. I liked the ovals you asked me about better although I might recommend more shopping, too.
