There is no fish eye in coloured stones, unlike diamonds. The picture is actually poorly taken and my guess is that that's the table of the sapphire.

oh i see what you mean, it looks more like the edge of the table in this pic

its 2.5 carats and priced at $1200. i love the color and shape and the second photo makes it look very bright but it looks a little sleepy to me. what do you think?

It is likely to be a little sleepy. The lighting is also controlled so I would request a more natural picture. Under normal circumstances (taken outdoors or near a window), I expect it to look different. If you are in the US, it might be worth a look.

Hah hah! I just posted this stone as one I thought the Montana lovers should take a serious look at! I'm glad you are considering it. I'm pretty sure that Dana only takes photos in outside daylight (I think he has something on his Master Cut website that explains they are all taken outdoors around mid day?). For some reason, these photos do look slightly blue tinted, which might make the sapphire appear ever so slightly more blue-ly saturated (nice terminology there, eh?), but I still think it holds promise to be very pretty and a great shape.

OMG i was totally looking at that stone too and had to restrain myself...I'm sure the stone is lovely IRL!! I once asked Dana specifically how he took his outside shots and he said in the shade/in diffuse lighting so it's probably pretty accurate. If anything I will say that Dana's stones (for me at least) have always turned out more lovely IRL than in his photos (see my most recent post of my greyish spinel with the crazy amounts of dispersion even in a bezel setting). Regardless, he's got a very very good return policy and he will definitely work with you, he's very flexible. So, if you can get it, I'd definitely say go for it!! And if you decide not to keep it, I want to be next in line!!!

Sleepy, but I love the color and cut.

lol someone else beat me to it :(

so i hope they post some more pictures on here so we can see it some more. its a lovely color but i wonder how sleepy it is in person

Oh, I'm sorry. I was so sure you got it.

I talso looks like it has some color zoning, which may or may not bother the person who purchased it.

True, you can spot the off-colouration from N-S in the first picture, E-W in the second picture.
