So I''m glad you guys are out there -- this is a confusing process.

I''m comparing the following, and looking for advice:

Stone 1:
1.11. ct, GIA, D color, 62 depth, 56 table, polish VG, sym good, no fl., medium to thick girdle, no culet, faceted, $6,900.

Stone 2:
1.10 ct, AGS, F color, 62 depth, 56 table, pol ID, sym ID, no fl., medium girdle, pointed culet, $6,900.

Here is the question -- I obviously prefer the color on the first one, and they are pretty similar, but should I be concerned about the "good" symmetry? Rube that I am, I really only care if it will appear different to the naked eye -- will it make it sparkle less? (Hard to tell b/c they are from different shops so can''t put them side by side.)

Am hoping to do this tomorrow -- any advice today would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Does anyone know how AGS does girdle rankings? Is there a number system (some jeweler was telling me 12-20% -- does that convert to something in terms of medium, thick, thin, etc?)

Interesting that you should ask. I just posted "Confused about the New Grading System" that addresses the very question of symmetry. I have been trying to get an explanation because some experts do not seem to think excellent symmetry is necessary to the appearance of the stone. I settled for very good and am very pleased. However it seems that excellent symmetry and polish add to the price of the stone.

I hope someone will answer and explain.
