Does a GIA excellent cut make "very good" symmetry OK?

You are still fine. If this is the stone with all the images you posted in the other thread. Don't worry about the VG.

GIA does not use Ideal as a cut grade.

By itself, a GIA excellent grade does not make the diamond OK to those of us who are cut nuts. You will need to see the ASET and Ideal-Scope images to know for sure how the diamond performs, although lack of symmetry is likely to mean smaller flashes of both white and colored light.

GIA Excellent cut diamonds can be indeed Excellent in any one's book, they can also be only medium depending on all of the pieces and parts and how they fit together. It is a wide cut grade encompassing AGS 0 through 5 cut grades regularly. It is important to know which one you are getting.

I would agree that I would have to have an ASET on a stone with very good symmetry.

Thanks, all.

Gypsy- this stone is different than the stone in the other thread. I keep going back and forth between the stones. I was concerned about the feather inclusions in the other stone (the one with all the images), and liked the measurements of this new stone, but without having an ASET image for this new diamond, I am stuck between a "rock" and a hard place. Pun intended :cheeky:
