Do you prefer to size your rings snug or loose and why?

Just wondering.

I prefer snug and always with large sizing balls, speed bumps, shots (whatever you wish to call them)? Snug can be a problem in the summer, though.

And you?

---

Thanks.

I prefer my ring to be medium (?) I guess

It is loose in the fact that I can move it up and down from the base of my finger to my knuckle, but it is tight enough that I need to force it over my knuckle, and when I shake my hand it does not come off. It fits great all year round

I had my e-ring and tsavorite rings sized to size because they can be re-sized easily. I am having my wedding bands sized up because they can''t be easily re-sized. (I''ve never used the same word so many times in 2 sentences.)

I like mine to be a lbit oose, but not so much that it would fly off. I like when my ring moves around a bit while wearing it... gives me something to play with and a reason to look at it! Thats especially true with solitaires.

No matter what my rings never fit. All winter long I can shake my hand and my ring will fly off, but when I wake up in the morning my fingers are so swollen I can''t put it on until mid day. Now that it''s nearing summer my fingers are swollen all day and night and it''s really hard to get the ring on at all, and too uncomfortable to wear it. I don''t know what to do but I can''t keep resizing it between a 5.25 and a 6.

Hi disneybride
I was just at the jewelry store and I saw these really neat settings by memoire.
I think it was the memory fit collection.
It had a special mechanism inside, I think a spring, so your ring always fits.
It was really neat.

I like them slightly loose because otherwise it squishes my fingers and gives me highly unattractive sausage-digits.

I like mine to be a little bit difficult to get over my knuckle, then slightly loose once its in place. I have weird fingers. Huge knuckles and small on the other side.

I have the same problem as some others have expressed in this thread: My rings are all very loose in the winter- I had even been unable to find a few rings for months at a time because they had somehow come right off my hand while doing things aorund the house- I didn''t even feel them slip off! But, in the summer, or even when I wake up in the morning (esp. if I had eaten a lot of salt the day before) they are often so tight I can''t get them off without soap and water, or even a bit of oil! I have thin fingers, but I have large knuckles. My actual ring size is about a 4.75-5.00/5.25 (still have to force it a bit over my knuckle), but I am most comfortble with no less then 5.5. The problem is that my rings spin around in winter/when not swollen at a 5.5 or larger. Tight rings are so, so uncomfortable to me- and I also have a habit of "playing" with my rings- twisting them on and off, and I don''t even realize I am doing it.

BF and I are activley searching for an e-ring, and I was told by several jewlers to get an e-ring on the tighter side. So I have no idea what size I will end up with.

I like mine loose. I love how they feel rolling around and clinking together. I fiddle with them a lot, too.

Definitely to fit snug! If they won''t come off when its hot....then so be it!

I would imagine that the ladies with the larger rocks would need to have their rings snug or some of those balls fitted, to prevent the stone from sliding round.

I like mine just right.

Which is, big enough that if my hand swells, I don''t get Gwen''s "sausage digits", but small enough that when I''m cool, they may do that sexy side thing, but they can''t come off. I also like it when my hand is cool, and the two rings "clink" together.

I just KNEW when I saw your name at the end of this thread that you''d be a Goldilocks!

I like them slightly loose. I don''t like the feeling when they are snug, so loose it is for me.

Loose enough that a 2ct spins all the time, but not so loose that they would come off on their own.

Tight rings make even skinny fingers look fat. Muffin tops are unattractive on waists AND fingers

Loose. I don''t like the muffin top look either. I have a couple of wedding bands, one I can mostly only wear in the winter because of the way my fingers swell in the heat.

My fingers constantly change sizes so it can be tough to get the right size.

I do not like them squeezed at all. I prefer them to have a bit of spin, but not a lot. I always leave some room for swelling.

I like mine slightly loose, but not so loose that I can shake them off. I really don''t mind spinning that much since i''m constantly playing with them and putting them in place with my fingers anyways.

All of mine are anywhere from .25 to .5 bigger in size. I have big knuckles and it hurts to the rings off an on if they are too tight.

I usually wear a snuggie to make them slightly tighter once they are over my knuckle.

I like my rings a to be looser at the bottom, but fit kind of snug going over my knuckle so they won''t slip off easily. I had my new ring sized at a 5.5. Fingers are so weird though. I have some days that I think I should have it sized down and others when it seems just right to a little snug.

I like them a bit on the loose side. Just big enough to get over the knuckle, which means the ring will slide up and down the first joint quite a bit.

I, too, have rings that I prefer to wear in the winter, and others in the summer. Generally, thinner in the summer, and wider ones in the winter. But, it can take a few anniversaries to build up a nice ring collection to allow this.

Definitely loose, but not so loose they fall off! I absolutely hate the feeling of snug rings.

Me too...I cannot stand the look of a ring that is too small, but I also don''t want my ring to fall off. I like a nice even in between

Very funny & cute way to put it. That made me laugh.

Thanks, all, for your answers. I think I need to rethink things and try looser. I often have the sausage digit thing and hate it. I guess snug, somehow, became a habit.

Slightly loose. I work with my hands and sometimes they swell, especially in the summer time.

Ditto Ellen! imho, there''s nothing worse than the sausage-over-the-side look...But of course, you don''t want them so loose that they''re an issue.
So its just right for me! Not sure why, but I''ve been lucky that my ering has fit just right since I got it a number of years ago. Never seems too tight or too loose.

I also wear my rings super loose... I hate the look of finger muffin-tops!

Lady, you took the words out of my mouth! I love that "sexy" side thing, which mostly happens in the winter...but need the space for when my hands swell in the summer. I went with a 1/4 size larger than the jeweler recommended b/c I ordered my ring in early spring before it was warm.
