Do you know what kind of stone this is?

I bought this vintage ring not knowing for sure what it is. It was described as a pink sapphire. I brought it to a few jewelers who confirm the little diamonds on the sides are real..and it’s set in 14k white gold..but they don’t know what type of stone it is. It has inclusions in it viewable under a loupe but not by eye..so they don’t think it’s man made. They say the color a little different for a pink sapphire..Any ideas?

There is really no way to tell unless you get a lab report or have it tested. With that said- it is a beautiful ring.

Raspberry tourmaline? Guessing here.

Based on the pic you’ve shown us, I’d guess that it’s not a sapphire. It seems very big, clean, and the colour isn’t what you’d expect. I don’t agree with what your jeweller says about the inclusions, as synthetic stones can have tell-tale signs that they’re man made under a loupe/microscope, but appear to be very clean in person. I would suggest you find someone with good Gemological knowledge to have a proper look and run a few tests. In my experience it’s usually the second-hand dealers/pawnbrokers who have better knowledge as they have to ID what comes in, but as always YMMV. Good luck finding out what your mystery stone is! =)2

I didn’t pay a lot so I’m not worried about getting ripped off..I’m just curious if anyone could tell just by looking at it. I treat it like a fun ring like better costume jewelry.
