Just curious...do you? From the company, or your boss personally? Do you get a bonus?

HA! No.

Well, last year we got a poem about teachers with a snack-sized Snicker''s taped to the top corner.

We do get two weeks off for winter break, though. I''ll take that over a gift ANY day.

No gift from the university but our dept does give out little gifts to one another. Last year I baked cookies and wrapped them up into pretty little bundles for each of my coworkers.

But, like Haven, we get two weeks off, which IMO, is better than a gift (I love this time of year!!!).

We get between 9 and 11 paid days off over the holiday, plus an annual stock bonus based on meeting certain market price points (probably not going to happen next year). Plus we have another annual bonus that pays a certain number of days in salary (previously between 14 and 11 days).

Benefit-wise aerospace has always been generous.

Nope. No holiday bonus for me.

I''m a teacher, like Haven. We get two weeks off (which is a godsend!), and various and sundry gifts from students and coworkers (already got a bottle of wine from one

), but as in a fiscal bonus--no.

No. I''ve either worked for the government or in charity jobs. Sometimes places will put some money toward a holiday meal. I think for this particular place they decided on £15 this year, which covers about two thirds the price of the meal so that''s nice of them.

My husband started a new job in the summer and I''m wondering if he''ll get a bonus. I hope so

It''ll help make up for the fact that my kids and I will be around each other 24/7 for 16 days!

Crazy.

DH works for a company run by a man and his wife and is basically the only employee. He got a nice card and money last year and probably will this year as well. It wasn''t a HUGE bonus but it was $200 which is definitely nice. They also gave us a grocery giftcard this year for Thanksgiving which was totally unexpected.

We get a bonus in September. None in December although they do throw a really great party.

No bonus from the University for me.
However our boss throws fantastic holiday party and provides us with bags of cookies/goods as holiday gift.

Zhuzhu are you a research coordinator by chance?

I''m a grad student so no - our department throws a lame Christmas party with cheese and crackers. And my PI thinks he''s generous for letting us not come in on University holidays.

My fiance got a bonus of $25 last year - better than nothing!

Hello my birthday girlfriend!
Close. I am a fellowship researcher! I work with research coordinators often to phenotype our subjects though.

Such things do not exist in my line of work.

My husband's company (he works in marketing) has a firm "no bonus" policy. I'm not sure what the deal is with that. On top of that, he's also gotten two promotions yet ZERO raises in the past 1.5 years.

No bonus. We get 1/2 day off for Christmas Eve and 1/2 day off for New Year''s Eve, and the whole day off for Christmas and New Year''s Day. Hubby doesn''t get a bonus either. His company does throw a big holiday party, which is December 4 - this Thursday night. (I haven''t bought anything to wear yet)

Nope for me. We do get an awesome party in a hotel though! It''s like a wedding for 2000 people!

Plus a 4 day weekend.

My dad got the biggest bonus he''s ever gotten last week though, so that does indirectly affect me (more pressies from Mom!)

I started at my company 4 months ago and found out we get:

The weeks of Christmas & New Years off paid
2-4 weeks salary as a Christmas bonus
A great Christmas Party that everyone is raving about (it's Friday!) Can't wait!

They are very generous and I love working here!

Out of curiosity, these Christmas parties your employers throw, they''re free, right? Just asking, because the one my work throws is £33/$50 per person, not including drinks.

We are getting fruit baskets and no time off, except the actual day.

I work for a food company so they hand out lots of products during holidays. It''s great because I can give it to friends or use it to feed my family while I''m visiting.

We also have a department party where we do a gift swap thing. I hope I get something useful this year ... like a bottle of wine!

My small group also tries to do a holiday dinner at a nice restaurant, but we often cancel it due to everyone''s travel schedules.

Our party is free with an open bar. Never heard of having to pay

Lol, I really feel like I hit the lottery since I was hired after being placed here by a temp agency. All those perks are great but I''m just glad that everyone I work with/for is just so nice! It''s a great place to work.

Yeah, had a feeling my employers were majorly cheap. I prefer my old school''s approach, where everyone brings some food to someone''s house and hangs out and drinks and doesn''t have to dole out mega-cash to celebrate.

Yep - free party, free booze. The only downside is that it''s at a Country Club and we have to get really dressed up. It''s always on a Thursday night, so I have to bring everything with me to work and get ready in the bathroom there at the end of the day. I hate spending money on party clothes because this is the only party I go to all year! It is a great party though.

I work for a dentist and get a day at a spa, a dinner, maybe a play, and a cash bonus of about $350.00. This year was not so good last quarter so we will see what happens!

We get that stuff too, Haven! When we returned from Thanksgiving break yesterday, we found snack size bags with red and green M&Ms and a note attached in our mailboxes. We generally get 1-2 weeks off, depending what day of the week Christmas and New Year's fall on.

ETA: As for bonuses from our bosses, no, I don't get them. I do get gifts from my students and their parents though, which is sweet and totally unnecessary.
