6-prong solitaire, or a 3-stone? Crown solitaire, or floral solitaire? I’m going crazy with indecision. I’m a size 5 finger and my likes are all over the place. I would like to be able to wear this diamond :) It’s an excellent cut E SI1, 0.89ct 6.2mm. Woot!

Also I’m in love with platinum so whichever setting I choose will have to work for a while!! Thanks in advance for your help. I have been all over the place with my preferences. How do you guys figure out which direction to go in?

PS I have a good connection for stuller so I’m going with them for sure.

This is one of my favorites! I haven’t seen it in person yet, though.

I love this one, too! And the price is lowest of the three. I worry about how high up it might be... and the fact that the floral might not be that noticeable once the stone is set. I wish I could see it in person, that’s for sure!

I go back and forth on all three. I’m leaning towards the three stone for the “wall of bling” effect. Pricescope has ruined me and I wonder if a 0.89ct solitaire might not be enough bling for me ;-)

Haha! I know what you mean! I’ve been itching for a three stone lately, too! I think really like this partial bezel three stone

Ooo I'll take closer look at it! I had a major bezel phase but I'm not really into them like I used to be.

This is a close-ish pic of how a three stone might look on me. 1.73ct.jpg

For what it's worth - my old 3 stone with a .83ct center, .46 and .47ct sides, on a size 7 finger. I loved this ring and it definitely had nice presence, without being imposing. @pearaffair, what size is your finger?

I think I’ve posted pictures of the three stone you linked before, only with a 5mm center. It does have a much bigger look than a solitaire!

I too am extremely indecisive because my taste changes so frequently. However, based on your posts I think you will be happier with the three stone than the other two in the long run.

Oh Mrs-B, you rule!!! That’s a very helpful pic. What colour are the stones? I know you like white! Presence without being imposing is my favourite. I’m loving this plan. My finger is size 5 so I think this will look nice.

The internet pic? Or the stuller setting? You approve of the stuller three-stone setting I picked?

100% a 3 stone!!

Me: asks Pricescope if I should have a ring with one diamond or three.

Pricescope: THREEEEEEE!!!!! Duh! ;-)

Yeah I’m feeling like this will work.

So glad I’m not alone. Nice to talk to people who understand. I think you are right. Also, @Niel has had to listen to me wonder and try and decide for ages and she had suggested a three stone from the start. I swear, that woman knows my style better than I do!

Seriously she was suggesting a three stone for me when I was trying to decide on a ring style 3-4 years ago... haha :)

I almost bought the three stone setting you’re considering. This is it with a .51ct center and .33ct sides.

If you have any interest at all in a three stone I think you ought to go for it! The finger coverage is awesome, and there's definitely more bling factor. It's also traditional enough to never go out of style.

I think your diamond is the perfect size for a three stone of these proportions.

Oh thank you! That is so helpful to see. I think I remember seeing that one. Hmm I am not certain that that’s the setting for me, but I am totally on board with the three stone idea...

How did you feel about the setting when you try it on?

I am liking the 3 stone for you too. I am also hopelessly indecisive and have been quietly having conniptions about what to do for my engagement ring re make later in the year. I'm used to a decent sized 1 1/2 carat ruby diamond cluster and have been concerned (only since I've been on pricescope) about finger coverage!! I have literally been changing my mind on either a 2 stone bypass or including my existing ruby and going for a massive 3 stone everyotherday people!!
No one in my realife is any the wiser about my obsessive thoughts on finger coverage etc so I just go on pricescope and try to feel semi normal lol.

Can I just say I am shocked that according to the poll, the stuller crown setting is not getting a lot of love? It's tied for first as my fave option... what gives, people? That setting has a lot of examples on PS... is it because you're ready to see something new? Or is there something not great about that setting that I'm not seeing?

Maybe all the people who like the crown setting better than the floral 6 prong think you need a 3 stone. ;)2 I definitely would have voted for it if I thought you would be happier with a solitaire.

I really liked it, but a couple things were bothering me. I didn’t love the four prongs on the side stones and I like smaller sides/bigger center proportions better. The band did feel really nice, almost like it was comfort fit on the inside. It did have a much bigger look than I was expecting for the stone size. And cemented my need for a three stone at some point :lol-2:
Ultimately I might have gotten it, but my husband was in the middle of switching jobs and I didn’t feel comfortable buying something new at that point.

Hi @pearaffair :wavey:

All three stones are F colored. The center is SI1 (6.03 x 6.07mm), and the sides and VS1 and VS2 respectively (all more or less 5mm). The setting is platinum. On a size 5 finger with a slightly larger center, this will look perfect.

I have to add, I'd have this custom made. It won't cost you much more, but I'd be looking for a more tapered shank than the Stuller has. If your side diamonds aren't large (and they really can't be if your center is 6.2mm), the band will swallow the sides through lack of size differentiation. Also, you need finer prong work. Have you considered a setting like my 3 stone in my avatar; single prong on the outer side of each side diamond, invisible set on the inside near the center stone? It would give you a far more elegant looking ring and make the diamonds stand out more. I find the Stuller setting to be a bit 'metal heavy'.

What size sides are you considering? I vote for 4 - 4.4mm range.

Personally, I don't like the crown setting because the diamond would sit up higher. I'm biased toward the floral, because I just send a diamond off to Ivy & Rose for their floral version - a lot like Stuller, but without the cathedral. Started out very inexpensive, but modifications needed to be made.....

But it sounds like you've settled on the 3 stone, so this is all moot. =)2

I really like the 6 prong floral. I used to have a 3 stone, but I’m much preferring my solitaire.
