We'd like to add a little bit to this explanation. Diamonds graded by the AGS Laboratory as having AGS Ideal polish, symmetry and proportions tend to cost more than GIA graded diamonds that do 'not' have ideal proportions or GIA Excellent polish AND symmetry. However, comparable diamonds graded by the GIA as having both Excellent polish AND symmetry with verified ideal cut proportions (by Sarin or OGI computerized technology) usually sell for the same price as comparable AGS Ideal Cut Diamonds in our experience.
