Hi Ladies...

So today I am dealing with sticker shock... trying to come up with ways to save money... because this wedding is morphing into its own monster, with a budget the size of small country...

Have any of you heard of vendors offering discounts or incentives for paying off the "bill" early?

I am thinking about asking my vendors (dj, florist and caterer) to offer an incentive if I pay them off two months in advance...

Any ideas? comments? thoughts?

Thanks in advance....

You could ask them for a referral discount and then you could refer people to the same vendors you''re using. If you don''t have any friends getting married, hit up the local knot board and recommend your vendors on there.

It never hurts to ask, but most of them already have built-in pay schedules in their contract, and most of them want to be paid before the wedding anyway. For example, my photographer... I sent him a check for $1k for the deposit/1st payment. Another one is due in July and another in September, but my wedding isn''t until October. I won''t owe him anything day of unless we add another hour. If I paid him early, he''d say "thanks" but he wouldn''t adjust the fee because he books so far in advance he has a pretty good idea of what/when his income is.

I''ve heard cash may help vs. credit cards, but credit cards are better for contract situations usually.

Really the best solution is just to start ruthlessly whacking limbs off of the monster until it turns back into something more reasonable. Even if you''ve already agreed to something with your vendor there''s still enough time to go back and try to trim things there. Also, if you haven''t sent out the invites yet now''s a good time to take a weed whacker to the guest list!
