My fiance just proposed and gave me my ring and it is stunning! Palladium with a 1/4 carat diamond. I can blind passing people with just the tiniest bit of light hitting it. I was just wondering how well he did. I accidentally saw the invoice and he paid about $600 for the diamond and the setting, which for him is a lot of money for him. This is the grading report that came with the diamond:

It sounds lovely! Did you post any pics in the SMTR forum? $600 sounds like a good deal for a blingy
stone AND setting. Congrats on your new ring and engagement!

I bet you have REALLY great sparkle!! That is a great combo! I think he got a deal. And, it sounds like you''re happy, win win!!

BTW, I ran the numbers on your stone through the Holloway Cut Advisor and here is what came up...
usually you am to get a number uner 2.0.

Selected: 61.1% depth, 57% table, 33° crown angle, 41° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish

No I haven''t yet. Fiance is a photographer and he needs the "right" light and background. *sigh* Hopefully in the next couple of days, as it is supposed to be lovely here.

If I was trapped on a desert island I could signal a search plane with it.

And it was a great deal. While looking through the paperwork that came with it, I noticed there was also an appraisal in there, that appraised it well over $200 more than what he spent. He said he spent four months researching sites and the four c''s. I had only heard of Palladium in passing but now I am fully in love with it. Yellow gold make me itch sometimes and platinum is WAY too expensive and white gold has to be replated. I''m thrilled he found such a pretty alternative.

He is so aDORKable about such things.

Congrats. :)

looks like he did darn good!
you should definitely post some pics.

It sounds lovely, he did a great job!!!

He''s so relieved, he thought color and clarity were the most important, which is why the cut is only good. But apparently everything else evens out, so I have the most perfect little stone, IMHO.
